Current Events > I finished reading the Liveship Traders trilogy this morning. *spoilers*

I loved these books. The characters were great. Loved the way it kept giving bits of Kennits past so when it finally outright stated he was a Ludluck and Paragon was his ship, the reader had likely long since figured it out and was just waiting for the characters to know.

Amber was totally the Fool. The story kept giving hints to it and then at the end beat it over the readers head with the her obtaining the wooden crown from the skill vision the Fool and Fitz experienced and Amber carving charging bucks into Paragon.

Kennit dying was very expected. From early on I thought hed die after accomplishing his goals but before he could do something terrible and shitty to ruin everything. Though I was half wrong about that last part. Didnt ruin everything hed done, but it very well could have. If the charm followed through with its threat, if Wintrow and Etta reacted differently.

I didnt expect that to happen and couldnt believe it when it was happening. Like yeah, hes a terrible person and I wasnt surprised he thought of doing that, but I thought the charms threat ended that possibility. Kennit and Althea were my two favorites and before then, Kennit would change course when the actions he wanted to do were jeopardizing his goals. Like it still would have been a mistake, but I expected him to fully change course to seducing Althea.

I thought maybe it was just a nightmare, or maybe Bolt was trying to hurt her, but no it was real and no one who should have believed her did and those who did believe her did nothing. Though as a reader who had come to love Kennit, I could understand how difficult that was to accept for Etta, Wintrow and Vivacia.

Following the journey of Maulkins tangle was fun, though hopeless at times. Still have worries for them even after the survivors made their cocoons. Like they were serpents for far longer than they should have been, they cocooned out of season and they were weakening again before they had even started to be guided to the river. They might not become healthy dragons. And if this generation doesnt succeed, dragons will fully become extinct.

Started the next trilogy . Oh no, the Fool confirmed the dragons are not healthy.

The whole damn series is epic from start to finish. I almost skipped the Liveship stuff, but am glad I didnt.
