Ill post a couple of the lips I did in this topic, I was pretty happy with how they turned out. I wasnt able to overline them or anything, so these look really basic but I think the point was mostly to come up with a simple way to get metallic lips lol.

@Ankha

This was pretty time consuming (10, 15 minutes) tbh, but straightforward and the result was really really light wearing. It also was a huge pain in the butt to get off so itll last all day.

Basically, I used a brush and eyeshadow to paint my lips; however, I first applied a medium that would allow the eyeshadow to homogenize and the medium itself sets and seals everything similar to the way a liquid lipstick does.

That medium is just called face and lip tint by Urban Decay, its a priming medium that looks like a glue stick, but the stuff inside is a little more wet and slick. I have it in translucent, but it comes in I think 3 or 4 other skin toned shades. A darker tone might be better for the lips but tbh this stuff is awesome for quickly priming for powder blushes and bronzers too so I like the translucent one.

It looks like this:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/7/9/3/AAP2ssAADxZ5.jpg

After I had put that on my lips, I took a small flat brush and applied a metallic pink. The pigmentation in this shadow is really similar to the shade of my lips, so I almost ended up with a nude metallic. my photo is underwhelming but I was pretty happy with the result.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/7/9/5/AAP2ssAADxZ7.jpg

The second look here is a bit more advanced. This time, I undercoated the entire lip by brushing on a reddish brown using a brush that had been sprayed with Morphe setting spray, and once that dried I applied the priming tint before applying a gold shadow. I liked this quite a lot actually and want to try and make it even better because Ive never even heard of a good gold lipstick but it looks sick.

Idk that I am lol, or at least I have a pretty complex relationship with the idea that I might be. Ive always been the type that is able to make up for a lack of talent with determination. I think I should stop being so hard on myself tho cuz I had a really weird experience posting to a Facebook makeup group and I was like trying to just say that as far as the people who I thought are ACTUALLY very good, I feel like I have a ton of things to learn and areas where I can improve and I just got shredded because people thought I was trying to humble brag. I guess Im just the type of person that wherever Im at I just want to keep pushing forward and seeing how much I can develop.

I really appreciate you saying so, things like that always inspire me to push myself!

Youre so welcome! I hope youll try it sometime, I know Im gonna keep experimenting and Ill be sure to share anything cool.

One thing Ive been trying in my eye makeup is jeweled black, and Im wondering if something like that is possible.

Oh oh also, I did end up needing to use micellar to take this stuff all the way off, which is the most common ingredient in makeup remover wipes. I took various stuff off my lips like 5 times last night and they were definitely aching from the lack of moisture this morning lol.

Do you have many eyeshadows? I know youve mentioned really liking pinks and browns, any palettes youre a big fan of?

awh Glad youre such a doll! Thank you thank you.

I was actually thinking about you a bunch recently after something you had said in the prior selfie topic and I wanted to reach out because it strangely soothed me on an existential level. Just some brief context: you posted the photo of you in the China dress, and responding to a compliment you opened up about an insecurity of yours that really caught me off guard. Im kinda perpetually evaluating the phenomenon of self esteem, and how dramatically it can be shaped as a reaction to a genuinely hostile reality.

I had that instinct to interject and say, Hey Glad thats ridiculous cuz youre such a rocket that I think we actually see too much of in those topics cuz its not really that helpful. Instead, I took the opportunity to reflect on some of the insecurities I have and was able to get some perspective on how my tendency to react to them is such a lopsided 99:1 thing where Ill place so much importance on this minor thing I dont like to the point where I completely lose sight of all the things I do like that are a much greater proportion of what actually makes me, you know, me.

It just highlighted that Im going to always face insecurities, and I wont be in control of when Im struck by the anxiety they cause me, but hearing what you had said juxtaposed with the other facets of your personality gave me hope that I can learn to be able to respond to those feelings more appropriately and still manage to express myself as a confident and self assured woman even when Im feeling that self doubt.

Its posters like you that make me grateful to be a part of the community here

Oh my goodness nui I dont say it enough but I think really highly of you. Youre such a talented and kind hearted person. I also felt a ton of empathy for you when I found out you also work 6 days a week. Id never even seen you complain about it once, and knowing first hand how much of a mental strain it is, I thought that was such a clear sign of strong character.

Im perpetually humbled by how wonderful the younger women on this board like you, Harpie, and Ankha are. Just in general the women on this board are just amazing and inspirational. Even that one woman who posts some pretty brutal anti-trans shit has a really incredible story about forging her own path in life so shes a bitch but I still hope her life rules

Mascara is a high difficulty application, its difficult or impossible to course correct once it starts going wrong, theres no real way to alter it like with eyeshadow and liner, and if you need to get it off then everything else is coming off too. That said, its my absolute favorite and I usually wear it even on my rare no makeup days. Ive tried over a dozen varieties so Ive come across about 5 that I really like.

Ill go ahead and rank my top 3 and I have a couple tips to get better results. First off, Im gonna say, I dont see a need to own or even ever wear waterproof mascara. Its much more difficult to use, it usually smells bad, and it takes DAYS to fully come off no matter which solvent you use. Completely useless imo.

3 - Idol by Lancme

This one is a light coverage mascara and its wand is curved with shallow bristles. This doesnt give you a ton of volume or length, but allows for really precise control with decent separation. The curved wand is tapered to a near point as well, which lets you easily cover your inner lashes.

2 - Climax by NARS

This is a little heavier than the Idol but still pretty light in comparison to a lot of formulas. Its wand is round and thick, with a bluntly tapered end for a bit of extra precision. This brush has deep, widely spaced plastic bristles that are very beginner friendly with their ability to prevent clumping. This stuff just feels awesome to use, it applies very evenly and the separation is awesome. You get a quite a lot of additional volume and slight length from it.

1 - PERVERSION by Urban Decay

Ok, ok. THIS one is undoubtedly my favorite, so far this is the only one in my collection Ive already had to replace. First off, the wand is so luxurious, its another thick round, this time with no taper; however, this one is made of 100% natural bristles, so its like a high end paintbrush in texture. The formula is rich and creamy, and while it takes a bit of knack to get used to, it applies so evenly and gives you a bunch of big sexy volume and length. You can pair it (or any other mascara tho) with their Subversion primer to get even more huge looks. This one is a little more advanced in the technique needed to prevent clumping and achieve separation but with a bit of practice youll be an ace in no time!

HMs - High Impact by Clinique, Wild Lash by Urban Decay

My top tips for mascara use:

Warm it up! I dont do this anymore cuz it will eventually become a waste of time, but its a good trick in the beginning because it just makes it more difficult for the medium to clump since it will become much less viscous in response to the heat. I was just pass heating it with the blow dryer for about 30 seconds, or running it under the hot top for about a minute while I applied other things.

Wiggle that wand! As youre passing the wand vertically through your lashes, gently moving the brush side to side will help ensure that you get even coverage and will help you separate the lashes and keep them separated.

A little is enough! When you pull the wand out of the tube you should be able to feel that theres a really firm lip on the inside of the aperture, this helps keep the tube sealed to preserve the product, but its also used to control how much mascara youre pulling at once. Basically, if you tilt your brush when you pull it out you can scrape off the majority of the medium on one half of the brush. You can then use that more lightly coated side using the normal technique, but building up the application more slowly just gives you a more neat, aesthetically superior result.

Keep a clean wand on hand! You can actually get free wand ends from Ulta, or they make a specialty item thats overpriced as shit for this. If you have a brush that doesnt have any mascara on it, you can use that before your lashes are set to work out any clumps and do some last minute shaping and separating. If your mascara has already set and gotten dried clumps, you can sometimes use the brush to pull them apart, but more likely you may need something a little sturdier, its super sketch but Ive definitely used tweezers to do that a ton of times lol.

Sorry for the rant, I just love mascara and I want everyone to love it and have fun wearing it.

for whatever reason this comment made me think how its such a common thing for men to get really into the idea of ruining my makeup but I have to set it up to last all day despite sweating or snowing or whatever and its not going anywhere so when they say that Im just like do your best

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I really like the Clinique Take the Day Off cream remover, I use it with cotton pads (cotton balls are more irritating) and swabs. Ive seen the water version but Ive never tried it yet. Just theorizing but I did feel like it would be pretty hard to use, and also easy to overuse and waste. I can definitely relate to the eye thing tho since Ive been known to occasionally just thrust the micellar covered pad directly into my open eye

Sorry to hear that your skin is being a big meanie lately, I hope it gives up its obstinacy soon! I feel very like unhelpful customer support asking but are you pretty serious about your hydration and do you maintain a schedule for that at all? I notice if Im being really diligent a lot of my skin and lip issues seem easier to manage with just a basic routine.

During Christmas one of my favorite makeup manufacturers puts every product except their newest seasonal lines on sale for $12 a piece, which includes full $60 palettes and $80 mini lipstick palettes. Ill post about it so you can see if anything stands out as worth a shot!

Any fun plans you and smo are looking forward to this weekend?

Ive been thinking about visiting a dermatologist to see if theres any type of non-surgical treatment that might help with my loose skin and stretch marks. Ive been seeing that process where they inject a bit of CO2 under your skin to help collagen production. Idk Im scared of surgery but I want to start working on if I can. It is tough to find a way to fit it into the schedule, my boss is pretty lax about breaks and lunches and errands during work but theres just SO much work to do it would drive me insane to not be moving the needle on the day. Im hoping he just hires someone like I asked him to do 2 months ago tho. Have you ever been to one before?

This weekend is gonna be a little loaded, I have a dinner date tonight then tomorrow Im taking a day trip to Cheyenne to meet a friend and see if we can try that stupid burger at Culvers lol

Hoping I have time to finish RE8 in prep for the DLC but probably not.

Good luck, hope you get that downtime so you can relax a bit!

I use a cocoa butter / coconut oil crme as my daily moisturizer. Mine are the result of extreme weight gain and subsequent loss so its probably 80% of my torso and thighs are covered in pink lightning, the color is not too bad to be honest, but since the skin is also loose it can bunch a bit and that in combo with the stretch marks just makes a pretty unsightly texture.

I think Im the only one who cares tho and everything else about transitioning is expensive ass painful shit so its gotta be quality for me or no fuckin deal

omg thank you! One thing on this look is I got that crisp line in the edge there by using masking tape, but yeh the creativity and ingenuity people show with their makeup is perpetually astounding me.

I saw this look the other day where a woman painted a pattern on her eyelid with this stuff that dried translucent and Im like, wtf. Then she did her full eyeshadow routine and the spots where she put whatever that was were not looking good at all, the pigment was just so muted. Then, she flicked the end of that stuff with tweezers and pulled it off and the result was just mind blowing and beautiful and psychedelic in a way actually.
