A resurgence of car games could be really interesting. I never really got into Twisted Metal. Rocket League was/is pretty cool, and promising as like its own thing. Transformers tends to be fun for at least one level before the game gets stale. GTA. I tend to like flight sim games. Some mech stuff... The freedom of flight with the challenge of driving navigating roads could be cool. But Yeah Twisted Metal XD and just cars in general like Need For Speed or Gran Turismo or whatever. I actually think the Batmobile combat from Arkham Knight is fun so maybe they could do something like that in the future

Lots of physics and high speeds with lockon combat, tons of battle damage for the cars, etc, flight, who knows

But yeah the game just always looked and sounded way cooler than it actually played, visually, or in terms of story and gameplay iirc imo

Driving a modified ice cream truck made for battle, with lots of armor, gnarly bumper sticker attachments, and weapons, (and a flamethrower) your character drives around a post apocalyptic wasteland under the sky of a bleak orange twilight, making "deliveries" for a mysterious contact who communicates in the form of messages sent to you at various terminals around the map, or drop points, or even via a radio in your car, and is seemingly responsible for your character's activities and existence, refueling, and upgrading the truck. Your guy is just a runner who has no memory or knowledge of why the world is the way it is, who he himself is, nor the contents of the mysterious packages he picks up & takes from location to location, all while fighting against other heavily armored battle cars, tanks, trucks, and heavily powered death machinery.

Until one day he runs across this mysterious blue haired chick who is being hunted by an evil organization, your character confronts the truth behind their past, and learns more about the mad world around them, and the history of the apocalypse, reclaiming some of his memories in the process, and a critical choice confronts him when he must decide which gangs to avoid, or which to destroy, and which to join or support. In the end, we learn that the world was destroyed by a giant, but it's not known whether it was humanoid, or a dragon, and it's not clear where the pollution came from.

I also had twisted metal 2 but hardly played it tho. I preferred vigilante 8 or whatever it was called lol
