also when I used to be a big devil's advocate around here and defend positions I didn't really believe in just to be a turd (honestly still do it sometimes) foolmo was like the only person who realized what I was doing so I always assumed he does similar stuff, which is why he recognized it

There's something wrong there regardless. I feel his posts in the why and how he absorbs read more like "what if LMS was a jerk who thought he was super smart instead of had an unhealthy obsession with youtube reviews" than "devil's advocate troll" because a lot of the time his posts read less devil's advocate and more "look how smart I am contributing this" (he actually agrees with consensus on a lot of things which is why Kenri likes him)

But if you think he's just been trolling for 15 years that's fine. Either way the way you treat it is the same.

I'm not saying you like people who agree with consensus on things in general

I'm saying there are certain things you're very passionate about that are consensus accepted about around here that if foolmo played devil's advocate troll about (he tends to try and dunk on people who are the outliers on those topics-- smartmuffin corrik ulti etc) you wouldn't respect him

Oh, well yeah. But that's basically just "you don't respect people who disagree with your most core principles." I'm not sure where consensus comes into it.

I'm saying if foolmo was purely a devil's advocate troll as claimed he would be playing the opposite side in a lot of your principles and he'd piss you off.

Which is why I don't think that's what he is. He's just strongly opinionated and simultaneously egotistical and highly obtuse which means if he's saying something really dumb you're going to get mad for no reason attempting to engage with him. That doesn't mean you can't-- just set your expectations accordingly.
