Workplace bullying is shitty, for sure, but I think the reason it got brushed off by AH was because, at the time, a big part of their humor at the time came from finding something that annoyed one of their cast mates and then hammering on it for the sake of a joke. I could rattle off a lot of instances of on screen reoccurring "jokes" that would seem very mean-spirited without context. Again, I'm not saying that excuses it or makes it okay that it happen to Kdin, but when the brand of humor heavily leans on "cast mates antagonizing each other", that's going to become ingrained in the culture at the time, for better or worse. And obviously, it did end up creating some problems in the long run. The pay stuff is shitty, for sure, but only certain people are directly responsible for that end of things. Unfortunately, though, this is another sign of how shitty the working class in the US has it, in general. There's really no such thing as "good" companies that value and care about all of their employees, in the US. I'm pretty sure that before coming out as trans, kdin was living as an openly gay man. So yes, them being homophobic when he publicly identified as gay and then transphobic when she identified as trans is telling in both circumstances. If using "he" in the past tense to refer to before she identified as a women is offensive, I did not intend it as such and apologize.
