No other conservative PM will do any better. The UK tanked it's economy with brexit. Or rather brexit exposed the underlying failings of the UK's economic system.

I can't believe how you can be so cartoonishly evil/incompetent that you just go "taxes go bye bye" without a single logical thought as to how to make it work, simply because you are so ideologically deranged on the "taxes are evil" train that nothing other than eliminating them matters to you.

And you won the support of the party on that platform.

Definitely. I'm hoping that is on a few of the front pages tomorrow. It was gold.

His "I guess under this government everyone gets to be PM for 15 minutes" was great too.

Did she "accidentally" say something racist? Did she accidentally say something that wasn't racist?

Did... Did she resign by accident? So many questions.

I just hope that this doesn't detract too much from the comedy (and rare honesty) of Stein getting suspended for the press briefing where he said Sajid Javid "was shit."

Also, William Wragg has submitted a letter of no confidence in Truss, saying that he actually wanted to vote with Labour against Truss' fracking bill, but didn't because it would mean he would lose the whip, and without the whip he would... no longer be able to say he had no confidence in Truss, and lose his position in the 1922 committee that has the power to remove Truss.

Not a great day for Liz, all in all.

I honestly have no clue, as basically I don't think anyone of note wants to inherit Truss's mess. That's probably her saving grace. She's made the tories so unpopular that nobody wants to be stuck cleaning up the mess.

I wouldn't be shocked if the tories stuck with her until January, 2025, just recognizing that they're SOL for at least one election regardless. That way everything is her fault and the election after that is the rebound for when the Brits invariably get angry at Labour.

Nobody can positively turn that party around in two years, especially two years coinciding with an economic downturn, so who's going to volunteer to go down in flames?

I'm not saying it's logical. But yeah.

And also, the Brits were given a clear choice between careening off the Brexit pathway with a failed party or vote for a Labour guy that they didn't want to share a pint with, and they overwhelmingly chose the Tories in 2019.

That'd be like if Illinois voted for Trump in 2020. What?

An exciting night in the house of commons.

The Conservative chief and deputy whips may have been fired or resigned
Conservative MPs were physically manhandling others into voting no on a vote on banning fracking
Jacob Rees-Mogg doesn't know who the whips are
The ex-home Secretary is going to give a damming statement about Liz Truss tomorrow.
Conservative back benchers are saying enough is enough and the party is a disgrace.

At least they got a competent chancellor so they aren't completely fucked as a country.

But yea, how the fuck does a person like Truss get voted in. Every word and every decision she has put out has been absolutely wrong. Like you could literally just use a wheel of fortune as a decision maker and you'd get better policy than Truss.

I'm surprised half of CE thought she would last until Christmas

Her cabinet was literally being replaced by Sunak's cabinet while she was in power (in name at least) who were openly 180ing all her decisions.

I want to take exception to this.

Hunt is absolutely not a competent chancellor. The dizzling heights of "Not as shit as Kwarteng" doesn't make him good.

Hunt is the man who absolutely destroyed the NHS in every quantifable way when he was in charge of it and is a huge backer of Austerity Measures which if you recall was the root cause of the UK's social and economic woes in the first place over the past 12 years.

You've basically replaced Trapjaw with Skeletor and gone "Well Skeletor's better than Trapjaw so he's competent to run our economy." It's a non-sequitur.

Never forget that Boris, Truss, Cameron, May, Mogg, Hunt, Sunak, Wallace, Patel, Kiwasi, they're all symptons of the same Tory cancer.

Which is so insane. I don't get how even the most right wing rag can defend kicking a guy out for being unfit for office, bringing them back because the replacement was worse and actively refusing to have an election.
