If you actually legitimately need to temporarily store stuff and have a good idea of when in the future you'll be able to take your stuff back out. But much more often, people get storage units because they're hoarders and end up just paying to keep stuff there for some indefinite time, which kind of indicates it's really stuff that they can obviously go without and should just be thrown away.

Also when I had mine it was 64 a month. Indoors. 150 sounds high to me. But it depends where you live I guess

Depends on the size of the storage. The larger ones can be pretty expensive

Ive used them for moving a couple times. When youre staging a house for sale and decluttering/depersonalizing, its nice to have a big empty space to store stuff temporarily.

Some small businesses use them as inventory storage if their retail space is too small.

Put my stuff in storage when I had to downsize and find a much smaller (=cheaper) place to live for a while until I got back on my feet. It was my best option.
