Twinfinite - 9/10
Gotham Knights is a game that draws its line in the sand very early on and rarely wavers. It is a game that emphasizes the importance of support and empathy while sprinkling in every element we've come to expect and adore from these titles along the way. So no, Gotham Knights is not an Arkham game. It neither needed nor wanted to be. And because of this, it thrives.

Worth Playing - 8/10
Gotham Knights stands in the shadow of giants, and while it doesn't necessarily stand as an equal, it's a valiant effort. There's clearly a lot of love and care put into the game, and while it doesn't hit every mark, it hits more than it misses. The only thing that really drags it down are some technical issues and a slight drought of unique open-world content to complete. It's a great attempt to figure out how you do Batman without Batman, and this title should scratch the itch of any Batman fan.

Game Informer - 7.3/10
Gotham Knights didnt wow me with its overly familiar objectives, combat, and activities, but it didnt leave me sour. Its fun to control some new heroes as they brood over Gotham from its building overhangs and uncover hidden plots against its people. Those heroes are right to wonder if theyre living up to a vaunted legacy. And even if theyre not quite up to snuff, Gotham has enough baddies to punch to make for a good time, whoever you are.

Push Square - 7/10
Gotham Knights is the type of game you so dearly want to love, but time and time again it gives you a reason not to. What Warner Bros. Games Montreal has here is an excellent story with top-notch cutscene direction and a fun combat system, with too many needless and confusing mechanics bolted on top. If you can look past them, there's a genuinely great game here. We recommend trying your best to do so; you'll find a compelling narrative on the other side.

Gotham Knights is a consistently disappointing return to Batmans troubled city and a distinct step backwards from the past decade-plus of Batman games. Even if running around Gotham in two-player co-op can be decent fun and each of the four playable crime fighters are well executed in their dialogue and distinctive moves, too many of the fundamentals fall short for me to recommend it. From the inconsistent frame rates, to the weak story, to one-note combat that rarely feels good, there was virtually always something going wrong to make sure I wasnt experiencing the triumphant return with my friends at my side I had envisioned.

Gotham Knights acts as more of a cautionary tale than the logical next step for this storied universe. For a long time no one knew how to make a compelling Batman game, and then we got four of them in seven years. Taking what worked before while seeking to evolve it is admirable, but the obsession over loot is ill-conceived, cynical, and tasteless. It feels as though volume of content is given precedence over meaningful content, and for those that might enjoy the grind, the endgame's absence will be noticeable.

I just want to share this quote

Look, I know making almost any game is a labour of love, but I spent like a week being sad and not knowing why, until I finished this game and realised I was happy because I didn't have to play it every day after work anymore. All this does is prove that Gearbox cannot be trusted with their own IP anymore. The very existence of New Tales From The Borderlands is a more effective critique of corporate structure and the pitfalls of capitalism than any of the content of any Borderlands game. Apart from the best one. Just play Tales From The Borderlands.

The people I trust more seem to be really down on this game, and I was never sold on it despite being a ginormous Nightwing fan.

I'm a ginormous bat-family fan and I was never the least bit excited for this game. Even if it had the best Batgirl I still wouldn't buy it... at full price.

I cancelled this preorder last night, that was just for the framerate stuff but looks like I dodged a bullet!

At least Batman comics are really good right now lol.

Not putting batman as a playable character in a batman game for story reasons only to resurrect batman at the end sounds like the dumbest possible thing you could do.

SO MANY

Good Batman stories you could base a game around.

In so many genres.

Even if you want something totally new, you've got so many writers. Morrison, Waid, King, Narcisse, Priest, Zdarsky, Dini, Ram V, Snyder....and that's just listing writers actively working for DC right now. Hell, Narcisse is writing a prequal comic for this game.

But they just dump out something totally embarrasing like this.

The original writer Kim MacAskill decided to leave after sexual harrasment claims came out against the studio, and now they're handling it internally.

They tried to give her a lifetime achievement award afterwards and she basically told them to screw off.

You know I know the reviews are mixed but I hope I like Black Adam well enough.

DC Comics proper is in a really good place right now, but everything outside the comics seems to be collapsing.

They have lifted stories from the comics. Most of them are too short to fit into an entire game, so they have to combine multiple story threads and try to fit them into one cohesive plot.

Or they try to put a spin on an existing story to expand it, and try (and fail) to persuade people that the mysterious warrior who knows way too much about Bruce somehow isn't Jason Todd.

On the other hand, there are stories like No Man's Land which would make a perfect setting for a video game, with plenty of content to fill every corner of the map. Of course that would take a ton of work and resources, considering the story is long and practically every character related to Batman shows up. In fact it'd probably need to be two games. And I have no faith any current WB company could pull it off.

But a few hours later they added it back

But of course the game was already cracked within minutes after denuvo was removed so this so....idiotic
