No, it's free, whether you played the first game or not. It is mostly the same. There's a new game mode (Push), new maps, and the 6v6 was changed to 5v5. But beyond that, we will be getting a PvE story mode that had you battle waves of enemies together with other players. A few of the old heroes are completely different now. 5v5. obviously they're not going to change the most basic things about the game though.
