Also like 5 years ago I downloaded one of those windows edit programs and disabled the notifications. Now, I actually want the notifications, because they aren't useless anymore, and it also disabled my calander.

@hera I don't know why but I feel like you might know how to fix this. It was you, or some other user, that posted a git repo of their personal windows tweaks. Which I enjoyed, but now need to fix.

Is 22H2 actually out yet or is it only for preview still? Been hearing about this update since I installed W11 and it's never actually been available.

Do you have preview builds enabled? Or did you update manually via ISO? It's just not showing up for me in Windows Updates.

Turns out 22H2 wasn't coming up because TPM was disabled in my mobo settings. I enabled it, but Windows Update still says "up to date" when I click "check for updates". I guess maybe it will show up now at some point in the future...

I feel like file explorer tabs aren't that useful. The vast majority of the time I have multiple explorer windows open, it's to transfer files between them, which I'd still need a separate window for.

Will be useful once Microsoft saves your previous file manager state.

I think Rufus has an option to remove that requirement. I don't remember selecting it, it might be on by default.

You people understand that I develop software that gets deployed to Windows machines as well right?

That requirement does not exist.

The requirement was waved when Microsoft got backlash.

no it wasn't.

there was always a tpm-less version of w11 specifically only for testing purposes. windows update is straight up disabled on that version.

Linux can be adopted when you can double click an exe and run it out of the box without executing 15 commands and troubleshooting the whole process, or setting a thousand permissions like you're some kind of human installer program. 99% of people don't enjoy doing that.

And make shortcuts on the desktop without the os glitching out.

Some of us have hand pain and would rather not type more than we have to

They initially said that TPM 2.0 was required to install Windows, and then they said TPM 1.2 will work as well but won't be officially supported. That might be what you're thinking of.

Would be pretty weird if it forced you to use tabs instead of multiple windows, but tabs should be more convenient I would think. It's still a hidden feature in version 22H2 though, you have to use a 3rd party tool to enable it.

I'm still not seeing it. If it's a folder I need to access frequently enough that having it up when I open Explorer, I can pin it to the sidebar and access it roughly as quickly as I could by having a tab open for it, or otherwise make a shortcut somewhere for easy access.
