The interesting thing about Twitter is that a lot of it is warped from other opinions and beliefs from situations that do call for it.

Like more diversity in creative projects. Yes that overall has been a weakness for a while. It's great to have voices that give a project unique perspectives to draw from to give it more authenticity. There's nothing wrong with that.

But that has been warped to this situation where somebody is unironically saying that fat people needed to have a voice when it comes to a pop star dealing with body issues.

Like I get the logic for it. But not all situations are equal and call for equal solutions. Life is way more complicated than that.

Yeah like she's clearly trying to express her experience and reach the demographic with the same or similar struggles. Sometimes things just aren't for you.

Its literally victim complex Olympics.

Obese people feel their disease is more sensitive and real than someone dealing with a skinny eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia.

But also at the same time want to normalize obesity as a healthy living choice.

someone make sense of it all.

Didnt they said bc it was rented out a lot? Not an actual excuse, but I doubt she personally handles her jets logistics.

Also...twitter needs to die. 3 people have shitty takes and all of a sudden everybody choses a side. Like just fuck off people. If you have self image issue, the rest of the world is not there to comfort you. See a therapist and love yourself as you are...or lose weight.

What are they expecting in a music video, do they want it to stop at that point then have like a 20 minute video essay going in depth on that stuff before the music starts up again?

People are so hellbent on doing the right thing and standing up for the right causes that they lose their way on how exactly to do that because well, life is just messy. I think most people going after Taylor Swift for being "fatphobic" are young and just want the world to be a better place. I'd much rather have this problem than having people not give a shit en masse.

No. If they showed a specific pound amount, people would bitch about that number, any number, being a perfectly healthy weight.

Being fat is bad. Get over it.
eh, it could have just said "too much" on the scale. i actually think that would be perfect. i dont necessarily agree with peoples complaints, but there's nothing to be lost in hearing them out

i actually really think "too much" would be perfect

When people aren't happy with what they see in the mirror or the number on the scale they aren't thinking 'too much' they're thinking 'fat'

Never mind the fact that "too much" in this context is just a synonym for fat.

I don't quite see it that way, either. to me it serves as a nebulous, ever-moving number, that conveys the message that anyone can feel that feeling. that no matter how much you lose, it isn't enough, and that it's much more so a battle of the mind than anything else. i think this is a more mindful and ubiquitously applying way to have conveyed it

i say this as someone who has lost ~170lbs-ish and wants to lose a lot more, and doesnt get called fat

It's complicating the language of a rather simple concept of seeing yourself as fat no matter what the scales say.

I'm not sure what the change would do in regards to those complaints anyway.

i think we're just going to hafta agree to disagree, because I don't think it complicates the language at all. to me it conveys that message, but just makes it more universally applicable. i think the response would still exist, but less so. for some heavy people the word 'fat' can cut like a knife and ruin what was a great day before reading/hearing it, so i think removal of the word would indicate at the very least a level of mindfulness that seems to not have been on display here

That's the entire reason it says fat. Why would her inner demon use flowery language to make it not sting as much?

I mean you're acknowledging here that the word 'fat' makes fat people feel bad about themselves.

Like of course it does. It's overall seen as a negative. That's why her inner-self is using it to insult herself and make her feel bad about her body. This is a very relatable concept to a lot of people. When I feel bad about my weight on the scale the first words to mind aren't 'too much' it's 'I'm fat' and that's a sad feeling people can have whether they're healthy or obese.

The Twitter users here whining about fatphobia want fat to be a neutral or positive term. They want being overweight to be seen as normal and healthy. The entire concept of this scene goes against that belief regardless of what the scale says. 'Too much' is still painting excess weight as a negative.

I'm sympathetic that overweight people can often be treated like trash but it's just plain unrealistic to expect everyone to not care about their weight or have body issues.

does it mean too many pounds? does it mean she checks her weight too much? does it mean she just ate too much today? is the number actually lower but she pooped too much today?

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

this is ridiculous. they shouldn't have edited it. the comparison with the Lizzo thing doesn't fit at all. this is a group of self-important, loudly screeching, triggered Twitter dipshits winning out after putting up a sufficient fuss that basically boils down to them asserting that their struggles with body image are more legitimate than Taylor Swift's own struggles with body image because she's not a hambeast and therefore her struggle isn't as real.
