It was a good idea until they employed the same tactics that predatory short-term lenders do, which was the only way that they could survive. Payment doesn't go through? You owe us an extra $50. You paid the overdue? You're gonna pay us a $5 admin fee for that, too.

most of them dont do that honestly.

majority of them make their money from the retailers.

but genuinely I have no problem with them. They basically provide a service that has always existed in some fashion (layaway.) its really on the shoppers responsibility to live within their means, and buying from them doesnt mean youre not being responsible or cant afford it, some people do prefer the flexibility and the additional benefits you get for buying something you was gonna buy anyway.

Layaway is pretty similar, but it can be useful if you want to reserve something you don't have the money for yet but could be sold out by the time you do.

It's easier, and more blunt then credit cards for most people I suppose. But they still force people bad with money into the same interest rate traps the same.

I don't think anyone needs to tag him to remember who he is at this point.

I mean isn't this the same as paying a phone off over two years, which is basically what a majority of people do. Topic seems overly judgemental.
