I just want to take a moment to appreciate that that article includes the phrase "the pound has been pounded."

No idea if he'll stick around. He sounds quasi-sensible, at least, and a lot of that "he has to fix a crisis he created" is a matter of recovering from pandemic measures that were deemed necessary and not just that he screwed stuff up, but nothing about the Tories has exactly inspired confidence lately, so he's got quite an uphill battle to regain anyone's trust. Unless he pulls off a miracle before the pressure to hold an election succeeds, I doubt he'll win another term.

Elections in most democracies are only explicitly about the party sizes in government, not what individual person gets the highest office.

I'll give him a week.

As if he wasn't Tory. Why does any care what color or gender anyone is anymore? Imagine thinking this means anything significant at all.

I love it when Indian people think they count as minorities as if they aren't just slightly darker white people.

At least it's proof that some Tory MPs are able to look beyond the colour of a man's skin and instead judge his human worth by how much money he has.

I'm not sure you're aware of which party's been in charge for the last seven and a half years. Or were you just saying it's come as a surprise because Sunak's a non-white Conservative PM?

Yep, that's the way you want to do it, just as a lame duck replacement, this wouldn't have been bigger/more important if he actually won an election

The one who got it wrong is the TC, Sunak is the PM of the UK. Whether it gets to reduced to just England (+ Wales) during his reign, is anyone's guess.

Fair enough. I only follow England so wasn't sure about the rest. Still Hop103 must understand Conservatives have been on the seat for years over here.

Checked Wikipedia a bit because this is actually, somewhat interesting. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ierland have their own parliaments, headed by a First Minister, have not found yet if England has something equivalent.

Edit: Nope, seems it is just integrated into the UK government. Suddenly I understand a bit better why Scotland and Northern Ireland feel left out of UK government.

Potayto, potato. There is some variation what countries call the head of their ruling body and specific duties and tasks may also differ. Prime Minister, Minister President, First Minister, Chancellor, Premier etc. are all variations on the same theme.
