I am early into the game and accidentally killed someone in town, now when I press down on the d-pad I have an $80 bounty. However I only have $30 so I don't know what I am supposed to do?

Do some side jobs or a few main jobs and you rack up money fast. Or hunt and sell stuff.

Don't, keep your bounty. Go rest, every time you rest, bounty hunters will appear. Kill the bounty hunters, loot them, sell the loot. Quickest way to make money. *Every time* you sleep at a camp you make, if your bounty is high enough you are *guaranteed* to wake up to hunters.

Seriously, it is the easiest way to make money. You can make thousands in a couple of hours. Once you get up to the waves that have dogs (which is like >$100 iirc), you're almost guaranteed to get 2+ platinum watches and belt buckles, it's absolutely broken, and it's so easy to take out enemies in 2.

you can get arrested. sometimes you get a cool little missable scene if you do.

you'll lose yer contraband tho

That sounds effective but not something I really want to do on my first playthrough

You can get yourself arrested. You need to do it carefully, but if you go to a town where you have the bounty and go near the police and focus on one and use the negative comment option they will notice you. If you maintain focus you may get the option to surrender after they start interacting. They'll take you to jail and that should take some of the heat off. Just don't be violent or pull a weapon because they'll just start shooting if you do. Also if you've been engaged in an active shootout or the bounty is wanted dead or alive you won't have the option.

The other option is to go find a treasure. There are some gold bars scattered around the map you can sell at the fence in Rhodes that don't require a map.

Maybe its just me but I never had a problem when my bounty was under like, 100. Just dont stick around town too much and dome bounty hunters when they come by. Eventually the game will give you enough to pay it off pretty quick just through doing missions
