Low quality over processed junk designed to be as addictive as humanly possible. A good amount of people find a fast food chain to be their favorite restaurant. Its like if playing big rigs injected you with a dose of heroin, and now you think its a good game

Why? No one says you should be eating McDonalds for every meal. In fact, they say the opposite. The government, fast food joints, etc, all of them readily admit this shit is unhealthy if relied upon as a primary source of nourishment. You can't legislate against stupidity, especially when there are active attempts, constantly, from authorities to not be stupid about it.

Banned is a bit much but people need to be better educated on the importance of diet and nutrition.

Fast food is pretty great when tired/drunk.

I get this point, and would even ultimately agree with it, but - and this is a really big but like your mom's - it's not just as simple as that it's "stupidity". There's the huge factors of convenience and price. The problem is really that there's no good option that's all 3 of cheap, healthy and convenient. Cheap and convenient, that's these kinds. Healthy and convenient tends to be really, really expensive. Cheap and healthy is rarely convenient, especially if you want something that actually tastes half-decent. Not everyone has the time and energy to make themselves multiple healthy meals each day; and not everyone has someone else who can do it for them either (whether that's because they're single, or because their partner is also too busy working). For someone who doesn't have the time or energy (or someone else to do it) to make their own meals - which is a lot of people - and who also aren't able to afford the healtheir takeaway options, what does that leave...?

Ideally, I'd like to see this resolved by new businesses (whether on a chain scale or just local joints) filling the gap of healthy options that are suitable for these people. This leaves the option of McDonalds or similar as an occasional thing, or for those who genuinely just want to cram KFC down their mouth-holes 24/7. It doesn't necesserially have to be cheaper or the same price as typical fast food; just in the same general price range. Perhaps rather than a ban on unhealthy options, a better option is to look at ways to incentivize people to start such businesses?
