When you are the author what you view as a valid story is entirely your call. While some things were removed for other reasons, such as Thecla's removal because having a women shown at that powerful would make powerful people butt-mad, there were many stories explicitly cut because of the author's desire to "throw out the old bathwater" and it just so happened that many put the Jewish peoples in a better light.

who is "the dude" here?
you mean the Council of Nicea?
Marcion of Sinope: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcion_of_Sinope

Prior to him there was, quite literally, no Bible.

Though even going with the Nicean council you still end up with some funk such as how the Romans worked with northern Jerusalem as their "experts" and because the north and south were feuding many of the choices from the time explicitly were made because of that feud. That version of the bible is mired in politics of the era, and even if it's in a different way that one is also pretty bad.

Big Fish, the book is a meandering rather boring affair whereas the movie does a good job of stringing the stories together in a more satisfying way and Ewan McGregor puts a ton of heart into it

that movie also sucks.

I've heard Forrest Gump was a bad book.

it's also a dumb fucking movie, so yes. think about the politics and the tone of the movie and it's just fucked up and judgmental.

i mean, it's alright or whatever, sure. more interesting as an artifact than as a movie. fascinating as an artifact.

That's what I assumed as well. That Chuck P. prefers the movie.

I LOVE Fight Club the movie, but I liked the book's ending better, because I love movies and books where the bad guy wins.
Oh brain fart thats who I meant yeah.

Also in the movie the bad guys win too, they destroy all the buildings

Stand by me is way better than the Stephen King novella it's based on, The Body

I find King has great general plot ideas but there's something way too dry about his writing

Dracula. Not saying the book is bad but it's entirely written through characters writing letters and journaling. Whereas the movie is just a straight up 'here you go' story.

Game of Thrones. I know that's not the name of the book, I don't care. They were far longer than they had any need to be, if each were 1,000 pages you could cut out 500 and not lose anything of value.

Honestly this. The books were a slog. They had promise but like a third of each book was weird interludes of characters from different areas talking about Geralt,Ciri, and co in a historical context rather than just letting the narrative tell the tale.
