Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was overheard Thursday telling President Biden that the potentially pivotal race for U.S. Senate in Georgia appears to be "going downhill" for Democrats. "The state where we're going downhill is Georgia," Schumer said in a candid conversation on a New York airfield tarmac with the president, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., that was filmed by the Washington Post. "It's hard to believe that they will go for Herschel Walker." According an aggregate polling average compiled by the website FiveThirtyEight, Georgia's incumbent, Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, currently holds a slight 1.7% point lead over Walker, the Republican nominee. The trend line in recent polls, however, shows Walker ahead in recent surveys, despite allegations brought by two women that Walker, who has been outspoken during the campaign about his opposition to abortion, paid for them to undergo the procedure.

Schumer was more upbeat about the state of play in other the midterm election races that will decide which party controls Congress, including the closely scrutinized U.S. Senate debate performance on Tuesday by Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz. "It looks like the debate didn't hurt us too much in Pennsylvania as of today, so that's good," Schumer said of Fetterman's difficulties answering some questions owing to his ongoing recovery from a stroke.

Can confim. Living in or near Atlanta (except Stone Mountain) kinda skews your perception but the rest of the state is a huge yikes.

Abrams is also getting crushed in the governor race, Kemp being a strong candidate is definitely helping Walker and other Rs down the ballot

And people were so confident that Georgia had flipped blue after the 2020 Senate race.

Because they aren't good, and damn near everybody knows it.

But when your competition is "rewriting election laws so the right never loses," "brand 7% of the population as sexual predators," "institute the Christian equivalent of Sharia law," "storm the capital and erect gallows out front when we lose," and "Jewish space laser shoots chemicals into the China virus vaccine to turn the freaking frogs gay," suddenly just "not good" gets a lot more appealing.

The real reason is there were a lot of promises made, especially in regards to the Georgia senate race in the last cycle and people in Georgia were willing to listen and change their votes.

Many of them feel that none of those promises were delivered and therefore arent voting blue again in the next election.

Georgia is in trouble regardless of which candidate wins, they're both horrible people. Is there any way they can both lose?

I live in Georgia and people love this guy just for his success in college football. I think it'll drive people who normally don't vote to go out and vote for him.

Most people who vote are straight ticket. A lot of people who are turned off just won't vote or will maybe vote libertarian, but it ain't like they're gonna be "you know what I go D this time!"
