Ordered two large pizzas for delivery at a local pizza store, straight from the phone directly to their store. $2.99 delivery charge added, and it was $29.94. I gave the guy $40, and the guy tried to leave! Im like Id like $5 back, and he gave me $5, then rolled his eyes, said asshole, and walked away. I called after him, saying that I want the rest of my change back now, and he ignored me and just got in his car and left. I called the store because fuck that behavior, they apologized, and offered a free pizza coupon for next time.

Seriously though, what the fuck. How is a $3 delivery charge + $5 tip not fucking enough anymore?

Wages haven't really gone up in a lot of places for delivery drivers, they're still allowed to be paid sub- minimum wages in many states, meanwhile the cost of everything has gone up. $5 was a good tip like 10-15 years ago.

I once got stabbed by a pizza man for only giving him a $5 tip. Then when I called to complain, they swatted me. The cops took out my whole family. I now tip $6.

In all honesty, 5$ is a good tip IMO and usually my max for pizza delivery. Lower than 5$ if the price is cheap.

Takes same effort to deliver 1 box of pizza to maybe 2 or 3, so why should i tip a percentage based on total price. System is broken, but i participate in it the best i reasonably can without giving them nothing and without giving them too much more than they deserve.

Ive always just assumed that IdiotMachine is a gimmick account and they just make topics like these just for laughs.

got a haircut recently and the barber took like 45-60 mins (kinda lost track of time) and i can tell he was stressed out a bit (i go into the barber with long hair and ask for really short style). also he seemed pretty new at the job never seen him before till now and been getting a haircut at the same place for about 4 years now. the more experienced peeps cut my hair in like 20 mins in comparison lol. I felt bad that i only had like a 8$ tip on me for this particular guy but i didn't bring enough cash. if the barber shop took credit/debit card i would have tipped more of course :)

If a delivery job that's literally bussing food around is not paying a decent wage, it's a job you don't sign up to do when you're sober. When someone applies for that kind of work knowing this, they're accepting that they might get screwed in pay...

Hopefully the punk ass driver was at least heavily reprimanded (docked pay) for insulting a customer who simply wanted his due change. Higher quality businesses FIRE for that behavior, as they should.

Coworker of mine enjoyed ordering lunch from her favorite restaurant during long shifts. The food was always fine, but she noticed that 3 times in a row the same driver "forgot" to deliver a drink that was also part of the combo meals. Coworker was always polite and too mousey to bring it up or call in a complaint. We urged her to call the business to mention the issue. The next time she ordered, it was the same delivery driver (young woman in a pink beanie). Beanie girl coughed up the drink this time, but after she sped away we noticed it was already half empty. This time WE got on the phone with the business and each made a formal complaint against the driver.

We later had a new hire who formerly worked for the same business fill us on underlying details we didn't know. She knew the driver and why she was apparently screwing multiple customers out of the drinks, straws, and condiments they ordered. Some related politics were happening around that time and "in protest" customers of certain presumed race became her favorite targets. The management was already made aware she was trouble and waited for enough evidence to axe her.

I can sympathize with people working low scale entry level jobs, but they're also people who should know why they need to always be on their best behavior and not pulling petty high school shit. They're the most replaceable and there's buses of eager teenagers ready to take the same jobs.

I remember when Dominos used to have a cheeky little "Surprise Fees: Zero" right below the line that says "Delivery Fee: 2.50". That pissed me off so much. They've removed it since then.
