Misinformation campaigns and clickbait are only effective if you lack media literacy, political literacy, and (arguably) basic tech literacy. I've worked with computers/tech for years and just from my experience alone, everybody who adopted frequent internet use after the advent of smartphones lacks fundamental media literacy and tech literacy. A lot of radicalized far-right types had zero interest or knowledge in politics before they got brainwashed by Facebook groups.
