I remember when I was 6 and my first grade teacher handed us a worksheet to let us choose between George Bush, Bill Clinton, and H. Ross Perot.

The subset of America that view their children as toys and props is certainly having a day.

That kid is going to grow up to be a piece of shit so why bother sympathizing with him?

It's almost as gross as parents forcing their religious beliefs on their kids for the past thousands of years.

Almost.

sometimes its a good example of how not to be.

the maga grandparents mentioned in OP have 3 kids. Only 1 turned out to follow in their foot steps.

it should kind-of serve as a lesson as to how easy these things are to get wrong.

people are impressionable. kids moreso, but it's not necessarily something you lose as you get older.

Meh, for the most part kids just pick up on what the adults around them say. The "Ewww Joe Biden" thing reminds me of when my brother (who lived with my Republican dad) was little and tried to insult me by calling me Bill Clinton. He didn't know what he was talking about and neither does your niece. All I could do was laugh

It comes off insecure. If you're a good parent they would follow your beliefs anyway. You wouldn't have to force it. The difference would be appreciation and respect that lead their beliefs and not fear and manipulation
