yeah some games have this, cyberpunk, FF7 Remake, and Red Dead 2 are the others that come to mind. PS5 version is just one disc

its pretty good so far from what Ive played, enjoyed some of the twists gameplay wise

I'm glad they don't make you switch discs mid-gameplay anymore. Many cases of that are not quite so graceful as FF or MGS.

So during the Thor fight he mentioned that I'd beaten Sigrun before. Is that the game reading my old file or does he say that for everyone? Because Sigrun was optional.

The weirdest thing about that was I had literally never heard of him until I saw one of his videos yesterday, then he shows up in this

How's the difficulty compared to 2018? Sigrun was the only truly challenging part of earning that Platinum, but she was a clear step beyond everything else IIRC

I think she is harder than anything in this game, personally. I played both games on whatever default difficulty was.

I think it's about the same, but I'm not sure I played on the same difficulties. It can be a lot to manage at higher difficulties, but the consensus seems to be that the tricky parts are once again focused around certain optional boss fights.

No spoilers please.

I just beat Freya as a Valkyrie. Cool to have her as backup instead of Atreus. The Atreus/Angrboda section seemed to go on forever. Didn't hate it, just longer than I'd have preferred.

How far in am I, just story wise? Feels like there's a long way to go yet.

Odin is fuckin great, such good casting

I'm just going to put a guess out here now, don't want confirmation or anything

i just got to the shrine with Angrboda in Muspelheim. She said that the snake with the giant's soul in is getting bigger so...um... it's possible that it turns into the world serpent and then Thor fights it and it goes back in time (which I think was mentioned in the first game). Also the world serpent mentioned Ironwood earlier

also this sentient sword is probably going to betray me but idk

Ending of the Helheim section was very wholesome and good

But I especially enjoyed Atreus cashing out while his chips were good and choosing that time to reveal he'd secretly been to see Freya, and Kratos gritting his teeth and saying "I said nothing". Felt very authentically father/son-ish.

Legitimately just the most incredible twist (and in a game that has a few great ones!) Changes the context of everything he says and does the entire way through that moment.

And perhaps the best part is the drastic change to Sindri as a character as a direct result

His impatience when in the Alfheim temple makes so much more sense now. The loot thing.

Game done

Exhausting ending. I was really hyped to fight Thor but I respect the direction the game went in, and it got to the point that fighting Thor was kind of sad (and made the Odin fight better).

I'm pretty bummed that Atreus is just like, gone-gone for the postgame. I prefer their dynamic to Kratos and Freya's. I would have done all the side content beforehand if I'd known that was coming.

Feel pretty exhausted and satisfied now so might not pursue the rest of this (the new Valkyrie Queen, Asgard remnants, etc). The older I get the more checking things off a list in postgame feels anticlimactic after the big thunderbastard of an ending.

Oh yeah and I guess I called it, even though it was put in the background.

The final fights could have been bigger btw... this is the series that had the Cronos fight, and even the crazy Baldur fights in the last game, but you fight Thor and Odin in virtually identical circular arenas and it's all kind of...fine.

Yeah, I'm kinda the same way anymore. I did the Remnants of Asgard, and you're not missing a whole lot by not doing them, but you should at the very least do the epilogue scene if you haven't

and the Gna fight of course is great but I'm sure you know what you're getting with that

I will suggest doing at least a little postgame to get to the real ending, which I think the game will point you towards almost right away.

Yeah I'll look into that I guess. I find it a bit of a problem with open world games that have a good story (or even just like... a story, because it happened with Death Stranding too). I feel like I'm done with the game when I see credits, so picking it back up again and doing this that and the other seems not fun.

Also I'm more impatient now, and I'm less likely to clear up the side content in the middle of the playthrough. With this one I knew the longer I went the more likely it was I'd accidentally spoil it for myself.
