A Call of Duty player upset with what he believes is an unwarranted Modern Warfare 2 ban reportedly caused a stir when he attempted to visit an Activision office in Austin, Texas in order to "speak with an employee" about his problem.

In a Reddit post which has since been deleted by moderators of the r/activision subreddit, the player said they were banned from Modern Warfare 2 on October 28. Following the denial of a ban appeal, they set up a new email address and re-purchased the game on Steam, only to be banned again on October 29.

"Today (10/31) I decided to go to the nearby Activision office in Austin, TX to attempt to speak with an employee due to the fact that it is impossible to speak to someone over the phone," they wrote. "I was met by a security guard in the parking lot at Activision who told me that I would not be able to speak with anybody."

The guard conveyed the message, according to the post, but there was no contact between the poster and Activision employees. "The fact that I can't speak with someone at Activision Blizzard is very frustrating when I simply just want to enjoy this game that I spent 140 dollars on," the player concluded.

They spared him. Now he'll have to go outside and live. What a shame.

They denied his ban appeal, so they probably gave a reason. Wonder what he's not saying..

But yeah Activision owes an explanation why players are unjustly BANNED like that.

Honestly my first impression is the dude might not be playing with a full deck of cards. That's not a normal response, like at all. I'd be pissed if I seemingly lost over a hundred on a game but he had to know that wasn't going to work.

Looking at the original post he says the appeal was auto denied. While it was stupid of him to just rebuy the game without figuring out the issue first, I do get the frustration of being ignored when you have every reasonable expectation to be heard out.

Would like to know why he was banned. Shit happens and people get banned by mistake, no doubt about it. But if you spend $60/$70 and can't use it for no discernable reason, with no way to get an explanation, then yeah I'd be miffed too.

The context for the ban is all we need though.

There's been an issue with PC players being banned for no discernable reason recently. Probably something running on their PCs that the program thinks is malicious, but it's really not used to cheat. That's my guess at least.
