Hopefully nobody takes them up on that offer without negotiating for a hefty salary increase first.

Not really an uncommon practice, usually offer them less than what they were getting or without previously held benefits. Companies bank on people being desperate for a job that they'll accept a worse deal.

Not really an uncommon practice, usually offer them less than what they were getting or without previously held benefits. Companies bank on people being desperate for a job that they'll accept a worse deal.

One company I worked for had a terrible two months, draining their entire cash reserve. It was so bad they closed the corporate offices, and moved everyone into the building like a mile away that was only half used. They stopped using the corporate jet... which they owned outright to fly from Southern California to central California... which was a 4.5 hour drive.

And they fired the top earners throughout the entire company. They didnt look at what those people did. Just fired them.

This included a guy who had been there for 25 years (the company was like 27 years old), and had helped design some of the software they used...

Well, shortly after they realized no one else knew how to do the backend stuff to this software, so they offered him a massive contract position to teach someone else to us it. Making like 3 times what he had been making. He told them where to sit and spin. He went across the street and they offered him a directorship.

They also tried to take the woman who had a single digit employee number, who moved from California to Michigan to make the second plant for backup, and then moved back to California to work on retiring. They brought her in and and cut her pay by over 50% to the company minimum wage. She said no and walked out. A week later she was back, full pay but 4 days a week.

The only reason I didnt lose my job that day was because no one else could do it in the building. One guy who had over 3 times as much experience downright told HR and the VP of ops he cools the do this job after our previous lead had walked off.

I didnt end up staying much longer either.

I hope they all say: "fuck off"

Anyone that has been asked to come back should ask for triple the salary and a 5 year minimum employment period, with the rest of the salary paid up front if they are fired again
