I remember those years being magical golden rays of sunshine. Days full of the highest hype. Not only playing and hyping up the first game, bragging about how we beat it on Legendary, but also dreaming about what Halo 2 was going to be like. And when that E3 demo dropped, man, it looked like Halo 2 was going to be everything we hyped and dreamed it would be, and more. That game, the epic masterpiece Halo 2 was hyped to be, never came to pass... but we forgave Halo 2, and mostly enjoyed it for what it was (on Heroic difficulty anyway).

Til this day I hope there will one day be a game as great as we hyped Halo 2 to be in our minds. I believe the "real" Halo 2, or rather, the game Halo 2 should have been, the ultimate, epic, supreme masterpiece, has not yet been made, and the way the AAA industry is going, likely never will.

Those days are long gone... but man, they were something. I won't forget 'em.

so many sleepless nights playing CE on PC with my best friend...he ended up getting a second gaming computer right next to his main one, so when I was over we could both just sit and play halo together next to each other for 16 hour sessions. god. i miss those days a lot. we no lifed it so hard, we got good enough to throw frags down, then throw plasmas arced just right so the fragsplosion catapulted them and stickied our targets. insane, thinkin about it

this was a nice trip down memory lane

No, I remember being the opposite since PC shooters were all about speed, skill, and/or depth with excellent level design and deep mechanics. Instead I see Halo strip away all that and give a slow and shallow game pumped with auto-aim. Developers ended up following the Halo path, unfortunately.

I remember my brother and a friend of mine boring me with the game after they explored everything that could possibly be done in the game both single and especially multi-player.

I was playing Halo during that period but I didn't own the game or an Xbox. I played solely with my cousin on his Xbox. I had a hell of a time of course. We played a lot of campaign and also multiplayer despite it just being the two of us.

For me though, Halo 2 easily lived up to and surpassed the massive hype surrounding it. When that came out, I did get an Xbox, and it was the first online game I ever played. I think Halo 3 was ultimately a little bit more memorable because I was older when that came out. But I loved every aspect of Halo 2.

I wasn't a fanboy, but Halo did blow me away when I played it. I was still a Gamecube fan, but Xbox was an absolute powerhouse.

I have fonder memories with my friends who loved it than I did the game itself. I played LAN parties with 1 and 2 with them. I also went to the midnight launch of Halo 2 with my best friend at Game Crazy, where he played a Halo 1 tourney. He pre-ordered it, then went to the Walmart across the street, and traded it for the collector's edition (which ended up being more uncommon down the line than the standard edition lol).

My friends always liked it more than I did, but I'd get dragged into the 4v4 CTF lans on Blood Gulch all the time.
