Italys newly-appointed undersecretary at the infrastructure ministry, Galeazzo Bignami, is causing controversy after a photograph of him wearing a Nazi swastika armband was published in an Italian newspaper.

This matters because as soon as Meloni was appointed she brought up out of the blue "I am not cool with Mussolini's racial purity laws" , when nobody asked her about that, which is as comforting as when someone randomly says "that glass of water has no poison, no sir" after handing it to someone.

I have never felt sympathy or closeness to undemocratic regimes, fascism included, as I have always considered the racial laws of 1938 the lowest point in Italian history, a shame that will mark our people forever, she told Italys lower house of parliament.

What are the chances "racial purity laws" or "minority repatriation acts" will take place in the US in the next 20 years if the republicans win big tomorrow and in 2024? It's not unheard of in the US:

Or, if you need a more recent example, the Uvalde police offering up apropos of nothing "oh by the way, we totally didn't shoot any of those kids. And completely unrelated to that, you can't see the body cam footage."
