I know this girl from a few years ago and we've been really cool. Haven't messaged her for a while and out of the blue she messages me in English asking how I'm doing. I message her back saying I'm good and how is it back home, is her new job going well there. She doesn't message me back for almost a week and leaves me on read.

This happens again and she doesn't reply again. So the third time she does it I ignore it and she replies saying "" which means, what am I doing? Its not really rude to say it like that with friends, but its a total tonal shift with how she was speaking earlier. Not sure if she's just testing the waters to see how desperate I am or if she's waiting for me to strike up a further convo?

This is probably what I'm going to do unless she writes more messages. I've been thinking of travelling back there and seeing my friends including her, so I don't want to ruin a friendship over something stupid.
