Friday items that they sell? iirc most retailers say the prices are so low , that on most of the items they are actually taking a loss on them. Do you believe this?

I worked at a major electronics/game retailer for years.
The first black Friday we ever participated in (in Canada) paid our lease for the year and then some.
Sales went from Thursday to Sunday.
The Friday alone netted us over $110,000 in sales, the other three days combined made another $200,000-250,000.

So no, I don't believe it.

this. They lose money selling big ticket items like flat screen TVs or whatever, with the expectation that theyll make up for it by customers buying more stuff once theyre through the door.

Same concept as Sony losing money selling PS3s, but making up for it with game sales
