seeing the first footage should have done that, the only reason this game has high user scores is because of desperate sonic fans who have a semi playable game in the past 6 years and seemingly returning to the adventure to unleashed era of weird world ending shit plots

Every time this guy's mentioned I think of this really dumb exchange I had years ago.
A guy I know was in full hype bot mode, parroting the bit about No Man's Sky being an experience, a majestic experiment with gaming as an artform. Saying that was infinitely more important than gameplay. I told him it was a nothing game and that we'd seen nothing prior to release. He holds his ground, I assume he's a lost cause and let him do it to himself.

A few days later he comes along and tells me he is no longer buying it because a "Video game donkey" thinks the game will be bad. Didn't elaborate what that meant. I felt sort of like the faceless stick figure in the last panel that wanna see how hard I can pee comic.

1 If he's a prophet then so am I, I was saying that before the video went up. (Even though it was obvious)
2 To a lot of casuals we both lose our prophet status because now people have been deceived into forgiving the game.

Do y'all really not know who Dunkey is? Dude makes everything look like shit. It's for comedy. He doesn't seriously review the game.

That's because they're ripped straight from Generations.

It doesn't matter if he makes it look like shit or not, people take Dunkey seriously and wait for his reviews before forming their opinion on something, it's not even just him, there are several social media outlets who do this and like View's friend some people will do a complete 180 on something because someone with clout said negative things and made fun of it. Hell one of the reviewers for Frontiers bashed it and gave it a low score with the sole positive thing is waiting for Dunkey to bash it and tear it apart.

dunkey has actually offered his serious opinions on some games, usually in "dunkview". If you watch him enough you can usually tell when he's actually enjoying a game and when he isn't.

Like despite shitting on JRPGs he actually likes Persona 5 and DQ11, and despite shitting on pokemon games he likes Arceus, although he's said as much in his videos. Idk if I'd use him as an end all be all reviewer but he has also exposed me to a ton of new games when he uploads random videos, like stick fight

because sonic games have a shoestring budget and have ever since the failure of Sonic Unleashed, Forces also not only used assets from Generations but also Lost World, namely the fight with Infinite on the dead snake and the chemical plant

Heaven forbid they make another Sonic Mania.

Also, from what I understand, Sonic Forces was deliberately supposed to channel Generations (hence Classic Sonic) but it had nowhere near the design quality.

I actually didn't watch any of the footage. I purposely stayed away from anything related to the game. I wanted to see the reviews and the final product. Since the Sonic cycle says if a game sounds good, it'll be bad lol. But I never had hopes for this game. Returning to the style of SA2 would be great. World ending plot would be fine.

All I want from a Sonic game is levels. Good levels. No boring hub world or boring parts in between levels.

Sonic Forces had flaws (the levels were really really short) - but at least there was no hub world!
