Check the post for context

In this context, 'emulation' refers to using emulators to play older games that aren't from the current generation. Examples: SNES games while it's the Gamecube era, or Gamecube games while it's the Switch era.

This poll brought to you by the FBI.

Apparently Telefang is a pretty decent game on its own right, but the bad associations people have with the Pokmon bootlegs kinda killed any chance of it being released overseas (that, and the president of Smilesoft getting arrested for some pretty fucked up crimes)

Easily triple digits - it's straight up the only reasonable way to experience a ton of must-play classics, and that'll only increasingly become the case as time goes on.

I have only ever emulated in the way this topic is asking under two scenarios:

-The game is not officially/legally available in English
-The game is out of print and not available digitally AND used copies are unreasonably expensive

Anything that I can obtain in English at a reasonable price, I do so.

Ive got every cartridge game Nintendo ever released, and I think full collections for Genesis, C64, and some other stuff too + a bunch of later stuff

so yes, more than 5

being able to just bounce around between totally random SNES games Id never buy is fun

There was someone in a different topic who said they don't emulate games, which is what inspired this poll.

*unofficial emulation

though still a gray area in some other countries, emulation has been legal in the U.S. for a long time and there's court precedent for this

with a 3 second swap you can get a rhythm going, especially since MOST of the time you're holding right. If you ever need to not hold right for a particularly hard part (heat man jump puzzle for example) you really need to just stand still on the other games and focus on waiting for the one game to pop up...

our Shuffle Time Challenge is every 5-25 seconds, so you have no idea how long you'll have. Thus, it can behoove you to wait before a long jump or timing section until the game shuffles away and comes back so you can make sure you at least have 5 seconds.

the surprisingly difficult game in the last STC was Snowboard Kids for N64 because you really need to be holding on the stick to go fast, but most of the other retro games are d-pad, so you lose speed every time you switch back to Snowboard Kids. Made it hard to get first place!

Also some AWFUL power rangers game where we kept getting killed by falling signs because we were trying to rush
