For the same reason society thinks you should only date people around your age, you have similar life, I mean dating experience and you can learn together at the same level. I mean no one says its written in stone, it just makes more sense then only dating people 1-3 years of your age because some obligatory number.

Obviously it SHOULD go without saying, only consenting adults because people assume the worst too often. But even then I am afraid to even pursue anyone under 21 because of societal pressure. The "yOu aRe tOo oLd you have more life experience, you are obviously trying to take advantage". But even then theres STILL pressure.

We had a topic just the other day about Captain America actor dating a 25 year old. Last job I had I was in love with this 25 year old lesbian girl but I clearly remember her making a big deal of what a creep Keemstar was for dating a 21 year old while being 40. I mean I dont know his dating experience so maybe thats not applicable but what if in nine years I am still alone? It could be me if I continue the next ten years like I did the last ten (hardly going on any dates). Ive worried about turning 30 because I knew people in their 20s would consider me ancient because I did the same thing....I feel like I will never find anyone. Dont mean to be grim but I have even just thought about ending it.

Telling straight men in their 30s with little to no dating experience that they should date women with little to no dating experience is basically just telling them to not date anyone.

Also my experience has shown me the opposite. Being a 90s kid in NC, women my age who have similar interests such as gaming, pokemon and other nerd stuff are rare has always looked down on as "childish", where as it seems younger adults are fully embracing anime and video game culture.

if you have no such interests, the expectation of dating someone is not realistic

Lol at the people acting like a 30yr old incel will have an easier time with dating 18-20 yr olds than he will older women though. Single moms who need to use him as an ATM and can't get commitment from the other guys are his best choice, not college chicks with their whole life ahead of them and tons of options because they're childless, have no baggage, and are probably still wrinkle free and fit.

Whoever will give them the time of day. There's a reason why they're that age with no experience.

I'm about to turn 30 and while I've been in relationships before, I've never really been in a non-abusive one. I've tried online dating and it just gets me depressed and discouraged.

This topic is actually a great question because of this. People with a low amount of dating experience should also date people with a low amount of dating experience but thats not how it works. Society seems to automatically think your age correlates with your dating experience. Not to mention its often women who have far more dating experience, women like ElatedVenusaur with little dating experience are very rare. I cant tell you how much and how often I have felt rejected by women in their 20s because they know I am 31....but yet those same people assume I am in my early 20s because of how youthful I look.

Trying to date women my age is a nightmare for many reasons. Most women on dating apps are in their 20s, the smaller amount that are 30 already have kids or have even been married or had lots of relationships and have trust issues. On top of that I am mildly autistic so I my brain is several years behind in maturity and I severely feel it when trying to communicate with people my age.

Which is exactly why I'm scared of dating at 31. I refuse to take care of kids who aren't mine and mostly only single parents remain. So, I guess, I won't be dating any time soon...

Both myself and my wife are well over 28, but before I met her I dated all over the age spectrum.

Obviously I settled down with someone older but I'm just stating absolute fact that older women are easier mode than younger women and most older women are more desperate, which was absolutely my experience of someone who has the ability to date both.

Most older guys dont bother dating young because they're old and ugly and young women don't want them...not because they're "easy mode" and older women are more of a challenge, that is just pure cope.

Just date who you want to date as long as she is an adult. You have to not care about what other people say about you dating a 19 year old.

This is absolutely not true. There's tons of women over 30, who don't have kids yet. Please don't let angry single guys on the internet convince you that all older women have kids, or some other kind of baggage.

Its definitely a tricky thing. On the one hand, Ive got about as much dating experience as a middle schooler.

Obviously Im not going to go after middle schoolers but I cant realistically imagine a woman in her 20s - 30s (or any age, really) having the patience to put up with someone like me lmao.

I realized today my current relationship started a little over 10 months ago. And it's beginning to feel like only death will do us part. She's a few years older than me. Wasn't bothered by me being trans or not having experience or anything like that. You just have to keep looking.

What do you think would require patience from a potential partner? You may not have dated much, but surely you have other relationships? Family, friends, colleagues? Just be normal.
