We're in Tarantino's worst era, that's for sure. OUATIH and Hateful 8 are both terrible.

That we currently are? I don't watch enough movies anymore. But, Im in my 30s, so of course everything feel like rehashes and same ol. Im not 20 anymore and blind to the fact nothing Im watching is original. Now I know it isn't and I've personally experienced it myself and got desensitized. It's our fault for digesting too much content and not spreading it out so it's more exciting when we view it.

Production Code era is still the champion.

But I don't get how you can look at the 1900s to the 1970s and say that Hollywood movies were better.

The sheer effort alone that goes into the writing, filming and acting of modern movies is a higher standard on average.

You just only remember 2 or 3 of the gems of each decade of those periods and then compare it to Thor 2 or something and go "OMG it's so bad now."

I'd put money down that if half the people claiming modern Hollywood is "Da worst ever" sat down and tried to watch Sherlock Jr or Pillow Talk, they would not even be able to finish the film.

Let alone the stuff that's memorable for all the wrong reasons like The Birth of a Nation.

I still don't understand what is so wrong about Marvel films.

Is it that the films all have to build on each other and it CAN stymy creativity? Is that the problem?

Is it that they have become popular and thus studios, WHOSE JOB IT IS TO MAKE MONEY, bankroll only those styles of movies?

Like what is the problem? 100% Disney having a large monopoly is a bad thing, no question. That doesn't make the movies awful.

Yeah true there's a difference

No mostly because there are some amazing film makers still making great things. 2022 was a great year, so was 2019. I do think major blockbusters are probably at the worst they've been in a while tho.
