But even RE4/5/6's biggest defenders would struggle to argue that the games are scary.

Which entry in the survival horror series is the most spooky in your mind?

Did the mansion give you the hibbyjeebies? Or the Queen Zenobia? Or Nemesis running after you? or Jack Baker with his shovel? Or the dollhouse?

What resident made you feel the most scurred?

The first few hours of RE7, no question.

House Beneviento is pretty close though.

Probably 7 VR objectively, but I remember the ps game freaked me the fuck out in first or second grade so that sticks with me.

Someone whose's got a phobia of spiders is gonna be more scared of RE1 than anything in RE7

not trying to act tough or anything but these games rarely scare me.

however, i was legit scared when in Resi 4, i would break a box and a snake would jump at me. like that was unexpected... lol >_>

REmake 1 objectively

I found REmake, as a kid, to be a terrifying experience.

As Ive gotten older, things rarely scare me anymore, and certainly not to the extent that I could get scared back then. Hell, nowadays I can play through the whole game and not feel a shred of fear.

So while I known its almost certainly a product of my age at the time, I have to give the mod to REmake.

Man as someone that has been playing the RE series since RE2's original release, I have never been more creeped out that going completely blind into RE7 with the VR headset. Holy shit that was wild.

Mind you I'm not even all too crazy about the whole VR thing, but I kept getting those "just trust me bro" type of recommendations when it comes to RE7. Said screw it, got the VR headset via a black friday sale like two years back, and now I am genuinely glad I did that.

He means that VII probably scared him more, but the fear from RE1 stuck with him so much that he's picking that one.

Funny, I'm scared of spiders but video game ones have never bothered me. I don't know why. Maybe they just aren't realistic enough.

Cause if you roll with it just being the RE universe for the last 20 years, it makes sense. You don't get distracted by the goofy stuff. I mean, I do and I love the goofy stuff. Im always laughing at everything. But Ive had moments where I can just focus on the horror

Resident Evil isn't scary, but Revelations 2 takes the crown with every Glasp encounter

resident evil directors cut scared me the most but i was also like 8 or 9 at the time.

REmake imo.

RE1 probably left the biggest impression on me because, as a kid, I was terrified of the zombie dogs. So having them jump through the windows ended up causing me to not finish the game back then.

That said, these days that wouldn't really have an effect on me, and I've since beaten REmake to make up for never finishing the original as a kid. My vote would probably have to go to RE8 solely for the dollhouse. Rest of the game wasn't scary, but that part made me have to take a little 5 minute break in the middle of it lol.

For me it was REmake 1. I was not expecting the crimson heads >_>
