In terms of development talent, the premise itself, limitations of either one

It's a free to play FPS with Portals. I'll turn it on sometimes, enjoy playing 20-30 minutes, yet that's all it is

I loved the game when I first played it. Many at the time didn't seem to really use the portals very much and I dominated. I got bored quickly though and I don't know why.

Yeah it's barely necessary, very satisfying to use tho (if you think of it)

What you're describing is an unfortunate byproduct of psychology and marketing invading game design.

It's not that splitgate isn't fun. It's that it doesn't present to you a battle pass treadmill filled with a carefully designed trickle of rewards to convince you to log on to do your dailies to get your points to get your alternate skin, ultimately leading to you spending more than half of your game time playing the game in a way you would rather not so that you can complete all your missions in the most efficient way possible.

When you're saying that all there is to the game is a confidently designed core gameplay loop that's fun to play, you're highlighting the problem that this new era of gaming has introduced. It's no longer enough for you to have a game that you actually enjoy if it's not actively rewarding you in some way with meaningless digital cosmetics.

I surprised a ton of people using them. It was fun zipping in and out of existence while playing. But then the fun just stopped.

What I assume happened was that the creators brainstormed gimmicks to make their game stand out in the already overbloated F2P space, took Valve's portal concept, and stapled it onto their lazily designed Halo maps rather than refine the idea into a style that highly incentivizes players to use portals.

I lasted a good 10 minutes before I got bored and uninstalled. Should've just made a Halo knockoff for all consoles and stuck with that lol

What are you talking about? Splitgate did have battle passes.

Personally, the game just got boring. The gimmick is fun until people start using the portals optimally which means playing the game slower otherwise you just get beamed by someone you cant see.

I had to double check the names, but I was confusing titles. I was talking about lemnis gate which was the competitive FPS around time loops.
