Yeah I think it was my own expectations that set me up for failure. In the end it was more like a spooky love story which I was not really interested in but my wife absolutely loved it. They tell you straight up that it is a love story, and yet everyone was expecting a ghost story like Hill House. It did what it set out to do very well. Midnight Mass is great. Hamish Linklater gives one of the greatest acting performances I've ever seen.
