the true drillcore. if it's not obvious this is one of my favourite songs in the contest, so...
i'm glad three houses drew one of my least favourite songs on its set so i don't have to feel particularly bad about inevitably voting against it here, bt dutch is just unfair for virtually anything to face from my perspective, especially r1. g-darius set do be a g-darius set...

oh no this match is hard. zwei2 has one of my favourite sets, everything on it is sitting above an 8 for me, and there others i generally prefer, but the only one that i think i could ever semi-consistently pick over transparent four seasons is this... (melzedek and alwen are very, very close though)
did i mention this match is hard though (heeeeeeck why did it have to happen). similar to zwei this is pretty clearly not my favourite of this set (it'd say it's usually my 4th favourite of the ones here, appropriately), but its strengths are so apparent here that is possibly the hardest one for me to vote against now. i'm not sure what will win here but i hope it ends up close at least (i doubt it will though)
(later note: it took me until after i finished multiple cursory listens of both snub soundtracks in full before i actually came to a decision here, and i am even less comfortable with it than i was when i first listened to these...)

hi vgmc16. raito still shouldn't be allowed to do things like this that i am hopelessly weak to. i'm only barely less addicted to this than actor's anteroom. makes me also wish i hadn't eviscerated fortune and misfortune from the murasaki set this time. even if this is the best song, still a colossal travesty this couldn't make main bracket tbh
i was so confident i was set in my vote but i forgot how deep my nostalgia for little busters (song) is oh no. this is honestly one of the most unfortunate possible matchups for beat eat nest since it's one of the only songs here with a melody even more embedded in my subconscious. i'd been thinking "if this had somehow managed to be ring ring ring this match would be nearly impossible" but then oh wait right lb is also my favourite song on the set lol. oh yeah, before i forget, now that i refreshed myself finally on lb songs i know it's too late but i do want to say i like the changes made for the snub set here, though i do wish other songs like slow curve, parhelion, incommunicable message or one magic word had managed to fit on too

wild that fe3h manages to have my least favourite song today, talk about stacked. honestly, the average score i'd give here is probably above 8.5. also super not looking forward to r2/losers matches for any of these particular main bracket sets, feels like it's only going to get even harder from here...

The first match is odd, neither is particularly my kind of thing. Whatever DUTCH is trying to do goes way over my head, though I do like the part at 1:32. I don't know why Blue Skies takes so long to begin, but once it does it's alright. Less than the sum of its parts and I don't think it flows from section to section all too well, but it's good enough.
I like both in match 2, Heart holds my attention more and Seasons is more up and down.
Oh mannn the snubs match is great. Actually Little Busters is one of the tracks I like the least from the set and BEN the most, so this is an easy vote, but it still feels bad.

B.T. Dutch is an interesting song with its use of mechanical sounds, which I've been partial to in recent years I feel. Blue Skies does feel a bit underwhelming in a couple of parts, but I do enjoy the melody in it more.

Match 2 is ALL the pain right now. I really like Heart Connected, but Enthusia just comes in with that great synth energy that racing tends to deliver. Four Seasons legit stole the vote and rushed away with it.

Little Busters! is a real good rock theme, but I've always been partial to the electric energy that Beat Eat Nest has supplied me with. It's TOO good for me to want to swap in this matchup.

write ups (aka incoherent ramblings) will be super short today (hopefully) because i am from the u.s.a. and who knows when the mashed potato gods may kidnap me and place me in a food induced coma

b.t. dutch = cool. i love industrial sounds. wish it had a more satisfying conclusion tho. blue skies and a battle has a cool arrangement meanwhile, but doesn't really "hook" me. clear preference to the former.

one of these is what i wish more falcom sounded like, the other is what i wish more racing games sounded like. a heart connected is more my thing though.

i wasn't the biggest fan of beat eat nest during the vgmc contest, but i didn't dislike it either. little busters meanwhile had a song that i quickly grew fond of. i don't like this one as much as ring x3, but i have warmed up to it too.

first match is unfair. third match is also surprisingly (?) close. I love how Maeda does odd time. or time signature changeups maybe this doesn't quite count as odd time but the 3/4 measures just feel so powerful.

Before I really started getting into the whole VGM scene and discovering a bunch of new music, Little Busters OP was my favorite visual novel OP. Nowadays, thats changed, but its still an incredible OP! Love the bright guitar and vocal melodies, and the chorus is a great, powerful climax to the song. Especially at 1:09 with the koe o age line.

BTDUTCH has some really interesting industrial effects and samples. It wasn't my favorite from the G-Darius set, but it's still pretty cool. Blue Skies and a Battle is one of the better Three Houses map themes. I especially like the dubstep-esque percussion in the drop. The snare and strings are pretty nice as well. Good songs here, but Blue Skies gets the edge.

I like the bagpipe and sitar samples in A Heart Connected With Another. The melody isn't particularly memorable to me though. It's a decent song, but nothing outstanding. Transparent Four Seasons is definitely more interesting with the piano, and especially the synths. Very fun song that easily gets my vote.

I remember Beat Eat Nest from VGMC. I recall liking the piano and not much else. That's still mostly true now. Ok song overall. Little Busters! is a lovely theme on the other hand. Vocalist is serviceable, though nothing outstanding. The instrumental and interesting progressions the song uses are what really catch my attention here. The chorus has a nice little motif too. Great song and another easy vote for me.
