Aside from things like video games and computers, my favorites were and still are stuffed animals and figurines.

I had like 25 DragonBall Z figures lined on a shelf in my childhood room

younger than that I definitely had plenty of TMNT and power rangers toys. I had some TMNT truck thing that shot out plastic pizzas as projectiles

and even before that definitely some Batman stuff

Action figures of almost any kind. G.I. Joe, TransFormers, Masters of the Universe, Silverhawks, BraveStarr, etc.

I had a little bit of everything, but I honestly wasn't much of a "toys" kid. I had a ton of books, puzzles, board games, etc. Most of the time I went outside and would just run around playing with sticks, climbing trees, etc. I remember one heavy snow year, I literally spent the February break from school digging a tunnel under the snow from my house to my dad's workshop.

some kids had play sets for action figures that I always thought were really cool. Like my friends got this big GI Joe robot that soldiers could fit into, and the mighty max sets always looked really cool

Lego were pretty cool even in middle school. Before that, it was all Action Figures.

For me, it changed a lot. I remember dolls, stuffed animals, board and card games, artistic toys, and puzzles.

I also had a pretty good collection of nerf guns and those plastic halloween weapons.

Lego, mostly.

Action figures. I also enjoyed dressing and undressing my sisters barbie dolls for a brief period.

Legos and Star Wars toys.

I had almost every Star Wars action figure and playset (I only lacked the Space Station.)

And I must have had close to 10,000 separate Lego pieces across various sets.

Bionicles probably the best one, also other types of Lego, Mega Blok etc. Lincoln Logs were a good one too.

Lego has been a favorite of mine pretty much my entire life.

But I also had quite a bit of TMNT and GIJoe stuff as a kid.

Othet than those its mostly been video games.

In fact one Christmas when I was in my early teens, an uncle asked me what I wanted, and I said Legos and he admonished me and told me to choose something more grown up. So I ended up getting a bunch of video games instead.

Haha yeah one of my main "characters" was an uber-simple robot I made from K'Nex pieces

Like other 80s kids, my favorite toys were basically the ones that had 30 minute toy commercials every day/week.

I had one of those. There was definitely a period in the 80s when I'd basically get like one toy from different unrelated shows. So I had one of those, one of the Centurions, one of the monsters from Inhumanoids, etc. For some of them, I'm not even sure I watched the cartoons (or even knew what they were from, specifically).

I also had (and still do!) figures from Space Sheriff Shaider, and I definitely had no fucking clue what they were from. I didn't find out they were from a Japanese show until like 30 years later.
