Oh yeah Cold Steel 3 ended rather dramatically. There is no epilogue after the game like there was in 2. You just have to go into 4.

You'll just have to play CS4 to get your resolution. The series gets _very_ anime right about now.

I've been replaying the first one on PS4. I'm on the final chapter.

As I posted in a different topic. I really liked the first one.

The series was already kinda anime but was amped up in CS1. Does it really amp up again in CS4?
Does it amp down in Hajimari and the Calvard arc?

Maybe its just because I just finished it but I think CS3 was probably better than the other CS games. Better than CS2 for sure, that game is the worst in the series. But I found Altina and Juna to be more interesting characters than anyone else in cold steel.

Don't get me wrong - 4 is still a good game. It's just the weakest of the 4 for reasons you'll find out on your own. Finish the fight.

I really liked 2. My ranking hasn't changed yet.
2>1>3>4 as I said before I could be convinced to put three higher than 1. Everyone has their own reasons. I think part of me was getting sick of playing this series of games but 4 does still have its moments.

I'd probably rank it as 4/1>3>2, but I'm also a weirdo whose favorite of the 8 officially localized games is Sky the 3rd.

Confirmed Zigga likes bread more than meat. Don't take that comment seriously heh I don't know the general consensus of the series, but I felt like ppl liked 2 a lot which I so happen do too and thought 1 was crap b/c it's boring and doesn't introduce flying robots soon enough. (I got sick of that crap after not too long) After that I feel like 3 and 4 was just preference.

2 continued the mech battles which I wasn't really a fan of instead of just letting it be a single fight gimmick. Some parts of the plot were neat, but overall it was my least favorite of them. The civil war had potential, but then it was really just "we're the 3rd faction, we'll do things our own way which is to say we'll help out the imperial army indirectly from time to time but never the nobles and in the end we barely did much" Then we'll get saved 3 times in a row in the castle and finish it off with some more dumb mech battles and lose a former comrade to a rather inept villain. I did like Vulcan and Scarlet , and Duvalie's frustration at being the only one to take things seriously.

They get really wordy at times. I like dialogue and reading but it does get into that Persona 5 territory of redundancy for some events. I can type a lot but I'll quickly realize when I am just typing in circles and stop doing that. There are moments in this series where they wouldn't. Partly why I think 4 is the worst is I was just getting sick of it near the end, a lot of the appeal of the series was wearing off on me. Feels like they could have told this story in 3 games but just had to stretch it to 4.

Still 4 has its moments and I love how it starts and continues in the earlier phases. I meant to say more about two or retort about it's merits but it's too late for me to think and I want to lay down

The main reason I didn't like 2 as much of the other games was because there were too many characters, I didn't really care about any of the characters except one or two, the characters didn't really develop, and nothing really happened in the story at all

I'm sure that CS4 is going to have even more characters but surely stuff happens in the plot. Also characters like Altina have gotta have some sort of character development as well

Altina is a smol bean that needs protecting. She gets a decent amount of character development in four as well. She kind of has to.

They're good. A bit cringey at times, but still a solid series. Especially since turn-based games are in short supply these days. The level of interconnectedness between the other series is pretty impressive too.

It is long though. The 4 games combined took me just over 400 hours. And that's without trying to platinum it.
