How do you prefer your egg yolks?

I love runny yolks, but they really don't work that great on sandwiches.

Messy makes food taste three times better. It's a scientific fact.

Just cook them a bit longer but not quite to over hard and it works great for sandwiches.

They're best in sandwiches, i just had a egg, bacon and sausage baguette with HP sauce and the runny yolk soaking through the baguette was the best part.

Solid - as far as I'm concerned, a runny yolk means an undercooked egg

Which would just be the worst possible thing anyone could ever do >_>

What exactly is it about steak that not only invites so much elitism, but seems to actively encourage it?

You missed the point

Let me spell it out for you:

Eat steak however you like, but people who like steak cooked to oblivion typically don't understand that the meat is cooked and safe to eat even if you can see pink/"blood"

Same with eggs. Eat them however you like, but an egg with a runny yolk is cooked and safe to eat. You're being overly sensitive/squeamish

A. So what?

B. Still doesn't answer my question

My question was "What exactly is it about steak that not only invites so much elitism, but seems to actively encourage it?". I see no answer to that in your post.

Damn dude really struggling today, huh? Here you go, further breaking it down for ya:

Because you fail to understand my first response to you was drawing a correlation between your unfounded claim that runny yolks are undercooked to that of people who believe medium-rare steaks are undercooked

They may not be cooked to your liking, but they're not undercooked.

To that end, I don't give a flip how you eat your steak or eggs or whatever. It was a simple correlation of people who are squeamish over "bloody" steak, and you who appears to be squeamish over runny yolk.

A. I'm not squeamish about that. Just don't care for it

B. Did you miss the part where I said "as far as I'm concerned"?

C. Since you still haven't answered the question "What exactly is it about steak that not only invites so much elitism, but seems to actively encourage it?", I'm going to assume you don't have an answer. In which case, I'm done with this "conversation"

Note the bold. Nothing elitist about pointing out how you're wrong to think runny yolks are undercooked, and how you should learn to recognize the distinction between saying something is undercooked to saying something isn't cooked in a way that you'd enjoy. Again, eat however and whatever you'd like.

It depends on the application. I like both hard and soft boiled, poached, but if its going to be eaten straight always runny.

Semi-runny, like with an over-easy egg. I like to sop/scrape up the runny and semi-runny parts of the yolk with toast.

If the whites NEXT to that yoke are not set, I'm not eating it.

Steak is expensive. Preparing it in a way that makes it indistinguishable from cheap minced tartar, is kinda wasteful.
