Sharing this here because some of you might be interested in making the same (or similar) purchase, for yourselves or as a gift for the holiday season. Some of you may know that I collect watches. There is no price category of watches I'm not interested in, so here's a very affordable watch that boasts some insane value! Specs: Model: Orient Bambino Small Seconds Movement: Automatic, made in Japan Case: Stainless steel Dial: Silver Size: 41mm diameter Crystal: Domed mineral Features: Manual wind function, date, small seconds Strap: Leather (stamped alligator, I switched mine out for a higher quality black calf leather strap) Price: Roughly $160 depending on where you look Review: Recently got this Orient Bamino Small Seconds. I am genuinely shocked at what value can be had at a sub $200 watch! How some people buy the lowest trash (usually aggressively marketed fashion watches, of which virtually the same stuff can be purchased for $2-3 on alibaba) for up to double the price is beyond me! This watch has a beautiful small-seconds dial with an ever changing shine to it, an automatic, hacking seconds manually windable movement, a very decent looking case and a vintage inspired strongly domed mineral crystal. The crown is signed, and has a nice shape and ridges that help gripping when setting the time or winding it, the barely finished movement is visible through a display caseback. I switched the rather basic stamped calf strap for something higher quality. I am a huge fan and can confidently say this will be in my regular rotation. Such a cool piece! Some of you will say "I don't need a watch, my phone is more accurate" and you would be correct. That being said, there is something really cool about a mechanical device you wear that doesn't become useless after a couple of years like a phone or computer, but actually gets cooler the longer you own it. It's something that will outlast us, looks cool at the same, and gives us information (time, date, etc) at a glance. In today's age where technology is moving quicker than ever, a traditionally made watch is an expression of slowing down and embracing technologies of the past. If it still doesn't rock your boat, then that's fine of course. Watches aren't for everyone after all. https://imgur.com/jlq0q5n https://imgur.com/qOorW71 https://imgur.com/aviIfLr ...
