As millions of Americans hit the road for Thanksgiving, the nations average gas prices continued dropping coast to coast.

The national average cost of fuel is $3.52 per gallon, down 22.7 cents from a month ago, according to Gas Buddy, continuing a downward trend for the third straight week in a row.

Its entirely possible the national average price of gasoline could fall under $3 per gallon by Christmas, which would be a huge gift to unwrap for motorists after a dizzying year at the pump, Gas Buddy analyst Patrick De Haan said in a media release.

According to Gas Buddy, the most common U.S. gas price drivers see is $3.39 per gallon.

Gas Buddy reports the states with the lowest average prices include Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Hawaii, California and Nevada maintain the highest average prices.

TL:DR - In and unbelievable shock to absolutely no one with even the slightest level of rational thinking, Domestic crude oil production has risen, causing more supply for the demand, which is what actually controls the price of gas.

Price of gas ALWAYS drops this time of year. Every year. It will start going back up as Winter ends, like always.

Yeah, regular is mostly under $3 in my state by now. What I would rather is that diesel would start going down so they can force the stores to stop price gouging the groceries that we buy.

Gas is already in the 2.60's - 2.70's around where I live. I was worried when it initially went back up a month or two ago, but it seems that trend has gone back in the right direction! How low can it go!!!

About the only thing he did related to gas prices was oppose the war in Ukraine and sanction Russia...Along with most of the world.

I have been seeing right around $2.99 in MN. There are a few towns that have it at $2.55 though. Definitely worth the little extra drive to save almost 50 cents a gallon.
