SLICE AND DICEEE

Pretty solid adaptation, except for the unnecessarily bloated Batman v. Superman fight, which I must have blocked from my memory until a fellow CEman reminded me of it.

Gonna ultimately fall into the 'book was better' crowd on this one, mostly because Miller's goofy, borderline-surreal illustrations really sell the vibe of the story.

Ill have to check the comic out sometime.

I enjoyed the appearance of Oliver, Green Arrow. Did Supes rip his arm off? Or any mention of that? Kinda seemed that way, and I nodded off once

If you watch Injustice, just know it's a severely truncated and drastically altered version of the comic story. The comics are a massive saga with hundreds of pages, and the movie is... well, just a movie. It leaves out like 90% of the cool stuff.

So DKR is not "DCAU". That's a specific continuity from BTAS to JLU.

DCUAOM (which is a mouthful) is what they use to refer to features that are animated from here on out.

It never really says but without context it almost implies that's the case cause supes is a government lackey sent to deal with a unwanted vigilante. Arrow wants his piece os superman who was also a vigilante.

Can't remember how the movie handles it; in the book he says something like "I want a piece of him, for old time's sake. Still hurts when it rains," while looking at his missing arm. Paired with the fact that Oliver apparently busted out of prison five years earlier, I'd say the implication is that Supes was ordered to bring him in similar to how he's now ordered to bring Batman in, and Oliver got dismembered in the ensuing struggle. It's not outright stated, though. Plus I'm not up on comic lore outside of a couple key works like TDKR, so maybe there's something I'm missing.

Eh the edginess was the point. Miller wanted to take things into a more realistic world in terms of how people are.

There's a fine line between clever and stupid when it comes to Frank Miller's artstyle here. Personally I think it lands just on the right side of clever, and the book wouldn't have half its personality without it. The art also plays well with the fact that TDKR is both a deconstruction of numerous comic tropes and a parody of media influence / oversaturation at the time, back before such a thing became trite.

By comparison, the artstyle in Batman: Year One is considerably 'better,' but it's also less exuberant in personality. Which is fitting, because it's a more straight and self-serious story than TDKR.

If there's one thing DC owns Marvel at, it's animated movies. 9 times out of 10 they're pretty awesome.

I wish Battle of the Super Sons would come to HBO
