wow I was trying out my dive and found a blue lake. And that looped back around to the last place in forgotten crossroads I couldn't get to (but it's still a one way drop) AND opened up an elevator to the city of tears? man this whole game is so interconnected in many ways

alright i'm super lost now. the world is big and yet I don't know where to go next. Surely there's more places I can desolate dive but I can't remember/find them!

To keep it as spoiler free as possible, there are a lot of potential places you can go to find cool stuff.

Unlike quasi linear games like La-Mulana where you eventually need to find the path, one of the things I liked the most about Hollow knight is... you don't. There are upgrades you can beat the game without.

So I would just keep looking around because cool stuff will pop up that will eventually get you there

You've been using the markers to mark the map, right?

Isn't this the game where you needed to buy more markers from a merchant?

Dung Defender is my favorite fight. Doma! Doma! Ahahaha! It's not hard, and I did one-shot him, but darn if he doesn't sound like he's having such a good time.

But yeah, just keep looking. I promise you'll find new things to discover.

omg that fight with the soul master was suuuuper fun! and desolate dive is AWESOME. Not only opens new areas but it looks and feels so cool.

The dive is supposed to be quite good if you get it down in combat. It's the one thing I never really mastered in the game's combat, but it does a lot of damage and I wish I had!

ok I do have all the map markers but i will also keep notes of unexplored paths in text here as I retrace all my steps

Greenpath has 2 paths on the left. The top one is the super long non-bouncing spikes room. Need to either move the shelled flying guy and bounce on him, or have a bunch of airdashes. Bottom left is a one way path from somewhere else. The inscription hints at some boss there. Maybe once I get do something in Lake of unn, this is the exit point

Fog Canyon has a darkness barrier just to the right of the entrance from Greenpath. There's an acid swimming room, marked that.

found Galien and died once to him but crushed him the second time. What kind of warrior stands back and bounces a ball around? geez

wow dang okay beast's den! and the first of the three dreamers! I hate spiders and I'm very ready to be out of here. But... I can't find my way out now lol

oh okay nevermind found it

oh, nothing really to do here once you've done that Dreamer thing so I can get the heck out of spiderland

Yes. It's a damage upgrade and I think adds some i-frames?

Lost Kin was the best fight in the game omg it must have taken me 15 tries. What an amazing fight.

Watcher Knights are much more frustrating than Lost Kin. Dying over and over! but of course, so happy to beat them

got me wanting to start up another playthrough

okay I found the Hollow Knight himself and fought him once to try it out, but my completion is only 63% so I went back out to do more exploring

ran into Hornet and dueled her again. God it's so much fun. She's having a good time which makes me have a good time. Then afterward I..... became king?? what does this mean?? I still can't get through those shadowy barriers

anyway I found the colosseum so it's time to hang out here for a bit

lol amazing

so round 1 and 2 of the colosseum were no problem at all but round 3 is no joke

The colloseum is where i had a lot of fun experimenting with different combat loadouts

That's ridiculous. I love how there are all these skips in the game if you know how to do them. (Which I don't because I'm not that creative.)

I must have missed the part where you found and killed Uumuu.

i mean I killed the three masked dreamers because that opens the seal on the black egg. But yes there are still some dead knights here and there I'm scrambling to find to collect essence and upgrade the dream nail

actually just finished exploring the queen's garden and fought a pretty annoying bouncing guy
working on Soul Tyrant now! this guy is no joke!

okay absolutely cruel that you can't focus to heal after you beat his first phase and he crashes through the floor. I just wanted to take a second to recover before round two!

Marmu is pretty annoying if you're not being careful. Dying there and having to do the runback without realizing the next bench is right past them is awful.

oh whoops i never went back to the stone sanctuary after getting my lantern. No Eyes was a neat fight although very, VERY easy this late in the game lol

welp no boss has fucked me up so fast as this failed knight in the dream. I can't last 15 seconds in this fight!

Easily my sons favourite game, I really enjoyed it too.

One of my favorite things about hollow knight (I feel like I say one of my favorite things about this game multiple times I suppose that isnt unexpected for what I think is the best metroidvania ever)

is that it has a really great difficulty curve. The boss to the normal ending is decently challenging, and then it just ramps up pretty massively from the dlc releases and you can kind of hop off whenever you feel it got past your confort zone.

I never beat the hardest bit of the game, because honestly it is completely insane, but I know some people have! More power to them!

But I have beaten the second to hardest part of the game! That was awesome!

the worst part is you recover almost no soul so you can't heal
