Sly was the boss I was talking about that nail arts are good. And specifically I actually just meant the most basic nail art in the charge. Useful for when he does the big spinning attack because it was always easy for me to get charge hits on him with that.

okay the 4th pantheon is really really hard so I took a break and went back to the egg. The Radiance took me 3 tries but it was a fun one!

You got everything else so I think the 1% you were missing was the Radiance ending. And apparently the game didn't register it?

That achievement is for 100% and beating the game. I think there's another one for 112%

i think watcher knights took me like 8 tries, dung defender 3 tries, uumuu two, and the hollow knight about 10 tries

the biggest thing was trying to transition to a magic build. Descending Dark does great damage but I have a really hard time getting the input to take before I fall on the enemy and take damage

I didn't mean you had a deathless run. I just meant you finished in 3 hours without batting an eye. I know my second playthrough didn't hit the 5-hour achievement. I played it very safe and tried to do mostly all the things, just in an efficient manner.

I must mean I was actually worried about the time cause some of those bosses took me ages! I was trying to balance multiple attempts with just... going and getting more QOL upgrades.

Just remember that you can quit out and warp to bench if you get down to 1.

okay I'm now 6 hours into my Speed Completion attempt. I definitely think I'll get it, it's just a matter of time (heh)

i think in this speed completion game I'll go ahead and finish the grimm troupe quest and try my hand at the big Grimm fight.

I saved Zote out of habit so I won't get that achievement... I guess that means when I do steel soul, zote's gonna die.

That's a livesplit file of how I was doing my run when I tried to practice 100%. Not all the details are there, but most of them are explicitly in the names of the splits. (This is not the mainstream route; I crafted it myself, but it's probably pretty close.)

Getting the 100% achievement is pretty lenient for time, though, so I doubt you'll need it.

the bad news: my controller's A button is giving up the ghost. It's been finicky this whole time but it's giving way too many phantom inputs and getting stuck down, and in a big fight that matters a lot! It's a $20 logitech controller I've been using for years, so I'm not too surprised.

And there are 3 bosses about on his level for the final Pantheon! You haven't faced any of them yet (unless you already beat the fourth pantheon and faced one of them).

the problem is most of NKG's attacks are at least similar to the attacks from his regular form, except if you do the same thing you did before (at least in my case) you get a face full of red flames. So I kinda have to un-learn some strategies and start over on him

Yeah this sucks, I think I need to take a break from HK until I get a new controller. I can't even beat Oro and Mato because it's like, random if i'm gonna single or double jump or jump just won't work

My son has hit 101%. He is getting more and more hyped about beating it fully. He is not confident that he'll be able to get the God home ending despite that being what he is working for.

I've never bothered with either, tbh, but I would be less inclined to work on Radiance simply because you have to do more work to get back to the fight. Reclearing THK each time to have a chance kinda sucks. I did it like 5 times and got to phase 2 once. I decided I didn't care enough to grind it, seeing as I'd already beaten the game (on a lesser ending) and I had other things I still wanted to do.

Easy for someone who does Pantheon content, maybe. If I can't beat a boss by the third try, it's an inconvenience to attempt, and is in a sense optional content...I'm probably not going to do it. From my perspective, there was absolutely nothing easy about Radiance.

And hardly calling beating Radiance an ending is kinda rude. Is the only acceptable ending to you getting 112% then? I guess only 4.8% of the 3 million people who have played Hollow Knight have gotten a proper ending.

I never got the Godhome ending myself (112% is actually just an achievement and not the ending; beating the fifth pantheon is the ending). This is just one specific example where one thing very clearly feels like a "real" ending and the other feels like the preview of that ending. Anyway, I almost edited that post after sending it because my drunk ass was obviously rude. Sorry. Enjoy games how you want to. Nothing wrong if you don't enjoy the challenge of these sorts of games, and this one specifically does have exit points for those who don't.

Base Radiance definitely took me like twice as long to beat as NKG lol. Even on a replay where I breezed through pretty much everything else it probably took me 20 tries.

I have no idea how people find that fight easy haha

alright! I got my new controller and played a bit yesterday

then I did some Pantheon 1 with bindings. Nail, Masks, Soul weren't too much of a problem, but I still throw at the last second with charms bound. I've failed it like 3 times.

So then I gave P4 a shot again just to see where I stand and fairly easily made it up to Pure Vessel. Now here's a fight!! Started grinding him out in the practice and fiiiinally got comfortable enough with his attacks to beat him on normal. I think I'll keep practicing til I can beat him enhanced, then go through P4 again.

in the meantime I watched a fair amount of content from Skurry so I think I know who the missing fights after Mantis Lord and Nosk are, haha. And then after NKG is... Radiance?

anyway P5 sounds ludicrous
