I never understood the combat is ass part, I loved the combat.

It's better than Skyrim combat.

It's not quite Dark Souls combat but like, on harder difficulties you have to pay attention, dodge, roll, use specific skills, watch for enemy patterns, etc....

being better than skyrim combat isnt exactly a high bar to clear lol

i played on normal and the combat mechanics were never interesting enough to make me want to crank it up. it feels very servicable and nothing ive seen in videos of the harder difficulties really seemed intriguing

Skyrim combat is more fun cause of options. But The Witcher 3 isn't bad. Fun enough to play on Deathmarch

The thing I liked about harder difficulties is you actually have to brew potions and plan for certain fights, or else you wouldn't win against some tougher monsters. But by the end I was still powerful enough to kill everything with my giga-crit-every-hit build.

I am playing it for the first time. I don't think I'll change the difficulty, I'm only barely managing as it is. I've been following a guide but it's pretty confusing sometimes what they're telling me to do or where things are. I die to anything that isn't weak and predictable.

Ahh to each their own.

The early levels are brutal esp once you go to the "second area"....you feel weak for a while there even on normal. IIRC once you are level 7ish and have decent gear (from a quest or something) it gets easier to move around.

They implemented new dynamic camera angles to make combat more fun visually at least.

i think combat is fine. i like tapping b (or circle) button to make geralt quickstep around during combat and then pressing square (or x button) to attack enemies.

Can confirm combat is crap. Also that parkour mechanic they teach you in the tutorial that can only be used in like 3 places in the actual world. Pointless.

The DLCs were very good tho

nah, just play it on sword & story. it has its spikes and the story and world are engaging enough for it to be enjoyable.

play without music tho or with the music very quiet, because SFX aren't often appreciated and the ambient SFX in TW3 are very immersive. the groan of trees swaying in the wind and rain >>

The combat is being revamped this time. The devs are implementing the FCR3 mod or whatever its called and tweaking it. The mod was originally made by one of the devs too.

Winds howling.

I did DM first run. I got lucky and it just clicked, that very first fight; dodge = win. I just floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee the whole way through, and it worked. Light armor FTW.

Ive been waiting for a 2nd run for this update, so Im pumped.
