Everything is sexualized these days because sex sells. When you combine that with social media and people editing themselves to be picture perfect, living these amazing (fake) lifestyles, it lowers the viewers self esteem. They're constantly getting this stimulation from everywhere, at the same time because everything is picture perfect, their standards are rising unrealistically high to the point where theres no way the individual person can feel adequate. At a certain point this mentality handicaps other aspects of their life, including school/work, other relationships, etc.

Our (mid-30s dudes) growing up was different - we still had to communicate and build relationships the old school way. Social media back then was used to connect people, there were no influencers. The only people you really compared yourself to was the people around you, who you know in person, and see their flaws and stuff. No one was perfect.

Thats just my opinion/observation without doing any reading or research on the topic.
