A beloved franchise of books that have spawned video games, an amusement park, studio tours, movies, toys, and many other various forms of merchandise.

Controversial because of the authors Twitter posts which leads to questioning their views on the Trans community.

Its a mega franchise where many businesses have their hands in the cookie jar even though its tainted. Some people boycott the franchise and its legacy because of the author and while people do understand why, no one wants to address it.

There is little to no chance J.K. Rowling would ever sell the rights either. Does that mean everything should be erased because the author will get paid? Rowling isnt involved with the series anymore and hasnt been for a long time, but she still owns the rights and is able to bank off it.

Its a controversial subject that could be broken down to support both sides of the debate. What do you think?

I didn't care about Harry Potter before, and I still don't care about it.

I still think Chris Benoit is an amazing wrestler while also believing what he did was fucking awful. If I can do that people can ignore JKR and her misguided views while still appreciating her work.

If some people want to boycott everything HP related because of her views that's fine and they have every right to do that.

If other people still enjoy the HP franchise and want to spend money on HP merchandise that's also fine. My team at work did a HP theme for Halloween this year so I to buy some HP shit on Amazon.

I can't wait to buy the new game.

The difference is that Rowling is currently pushing anti trans rhetoric and doing what she can to harm them. She is actively and currently causing harm and spreading hate. It's not something she just did in the past.

Is that actually true or just something someone made up for clicks?

I have the books. Whole thing seems silly to me. Let people play with their magic stick if they want.

I like the Harry Potter books quite a bit. I don't hate Rowling like others do. I just don't care about her much.

I will still buy the game coming out next year.

and JK is putting her money into right wing groups that hurt trans people

you can not separate the art from the artist here

and her bigotry goes beyond anti trans views lets not forget the racism in the books
