Why not?

Well, for starters I fly for job.

Also, many people that I care about live nearly 6,000 miles away.

Ya gotta think that if the single pilot has a medical emergency in a locked cockpit that plane is done for.

Realistically, it's probably a non-issue with ever-increasing technology. We're probably not far off from the point where the pilot will be more of a maintenance person who also knows how to fly a plane.

I realize large passenger planes and 4 seat Cessnas are different but I needed like 4 hours flight time before I felt confident taking off and flying and landing a little Cessna. They could add in some person who's only job was waking up the pilot for landing and making sure they're sober and let autopilot do the rest and honestly it would probly be the same as two pilots.

Barring heart attacks and whatever but statistically speaking I doubt there be a relevant increase in crashes in that scenario. You could even train them exclusively in emergency landing scenarios just in case.

Iirc there's something important that both pilots do together if an emergency, especially some sort of accident, natural disaster, or failure happens.

Yeah, so maybe the chance of calamity rises from 1 in a million to 1 in a half million. Obviously, making numbers up, but worrying about something still exceedingly unlikely is not a good way to live one's life.
