FOMO is not just a squeeze on long-time players to force more money out of them, but it's a major source of disappointment and hesitation for new players, too. It's as bad as predatory lootboxes, but at least with loot boxes you still have a chance to get the item you really want. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. But I am definitely not a furry. ... I will be honest. Money is not the major reason I hate them. They are just too much. Everything on timers and grinds. I am not able to keep up as an adult with a full time job and busy life. The buy in to these ecosystems are just too high on the time side and actually turn me away out front --- You know how fads are. Today it's brains, tomorrow, pierced tongues.
