veganism or vegetarianism has always been completely puzzling to me.

Nah but being obnoxious about eating meat is definitely a personality trait.

Yeah there always seems to be this irrational hate towards things like vegans and furries

normally from people that sound like they dont get outside much or have never actually met a person who is either of those things

If we're talking about eating habits then from my experience the most hostile people comes from "healthy" eaters. Can't say I enjoyed a Pepsi without some dude tryna shame me for liking this artificial sugary colored flavored fuzz drink.

Making a pro-vegetarian/vegan statement is more or less the quickest way to trigger the internet. It's honestly laughable, and as someone that eats meat basically daily I've had far more annoying interactions with fellow meateaters than I've ever had with vegans.

PETA admittedly sucks, though, but they're not remotely the fountainhead of people advocating a plant-based diet any more than prolific big game hunters are the exemplars of most omnivores.

like I eat meat, but all of it must be well done, off the bone etc. I also dont like handling it raw, but kinda unavoidable.

When I was a kid, I was picked on for being a vegetarian even tho I never once bragged about it or anything.

I wish people would just eat what they like and shut the fuck up.

Can't be any more obnoxious than celebrities who use their fame as a bludgeoning weapon like Paul McCartney who keeps tabs on The Simpsons to make sure that Lisa is still vegetarian which he originally forced as a condition for appearing just once on the cartoon.

Agreed. 9/10 if someone is being belligerent about this topic it is not the vegan, but man do they ever get the rep for being annoying

It's the other way around for me. I know some people who love meat. They would never even consider to eat less meat. Neither for themselves and their health, nor to help averting climate change. They always talk shit about vegetarians.

Three of my cousins are vegetarians. But although they do have their reasons/beliefs, they don't condemn people who still eat meat.

I like eating good meat. But at least I try to reduce my meat consumption. I think it's a good thing to eat less meat. Better eat less, but good meat.

It's really gross because most Vegans aren't even doing it for dietary needs or imposing it on other people. They literally are sacrificing food they might have previously enjoyed for animal welfare.

This is way more common and what TC is talking about.

Most of the time Vegans "shoving their beliefs down your throat" just translates to them making passive suggestions, like maybe trying a Vegetarian style pizza instead of defaulting to the meat lovers like a slob.

It's not that puzzling.

it's like a backlash against people promoting vaganism for some reason, now some people get triggered by hearing the word or hearing someone say they're vegan. think about how some people get triggered now when someone acknowledges the existence of any kind of discrimination against say lgbt or minorities. or how certain white women are getting triggered by the use of Karen(even though it's not even exclusively used for them).

i could fully understand not liking some vegans on a perosnal level, as quite a few are very annoying and always up your ass about getting you to try it out or implying you're a bad person for eating creatures that are part of the food chain.
