Cheap housing, then the rest follows.
Not "low income" set-asides of all of a dozen units in the most recent luxury tower, but actual cheap housing.
Bring back the concept of "projects" if that's what it takes.

I doubt rich people are apart of that 60% so they're irrelevant here. For poor people we have a reliable enough safety net and general good will of people to prevent anyone from starving to that degree.

Also what many don't realize either is that they have very little to lose. And are literally just a single decent job aware from recovering and or escaping that cycle.

People in the upper classes though have alot more to lose. And bouching back after losing your job, house, car and everything else you had then at that point is alot harder and time consuming.

It's relative. They have bigger mortgages, bigger car loans, bigger credit card balances. I'm not saying doing it hard isn't their own fault. They chose the fancy car, two storey home and AMEX platinum, after all; it's just that it's trapped them in the same situation many others, including low income earners, find themselves in, though perhaps for different reasons.

More fool them, I suppose.

The most egregiously amusing thing is that you can literally look up the prices around the world and compare. A large Big Mac meal is ~$14, they get paid >$20/hr. It's a modest % increase to support workers getting paid literally 100% more. Pure scare tactics.

I don't want to sound like I'm defending fast food places but it's prolly meant for low education workers and older people who can't factory jobs or even clerical jobs because they don't have the motor skills for it.

At absolutely no time did a fast food company think "I bet these positions would be great for the elderly and mentally challenged".

Prolly not but when I was a teenager I had fair share of elderly people and uneducated people working with me at Wendy's.

Kinda hard to feel sorry for adults that end up working in fast food. Those are usually the people that spent their youth partying and bullshitting and refused to learn marketable skills.

It's just easier to get into retail or fast food because all they care about is warm bodies.

Everywhere else it's about experience, or if you have connections, or if the interviewer likes your haircut and beard trim and shoelaces. Or some other thing they use to filter, except they always let that pathological liar in whose had 45 jobs since High School who can't stay off crack for too long.
